Whatever the spelling, if one of your little darlings spreads it on a carpet like butter - WD40 is your man for removing it.

It's a lot more effective than Germanlean on your scabs, but doesn't taste as nice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,941 ✭✭✭thebigbiffo

surely this is just an example of a product branding/trademarking itself by bastardising a spelling? 'soothing' and 'cream' put together then changed to help with international trademark registration to 'sudacrem' knowing that people will always pronounce it 'cream'...

i need out more...or has ray darcy already proved me wrong on this one?

It's not nearly as efficient as Germanlean tbh.

One of my lecturers calls it poodocream because of all the poo germs in the tubs that get there from putting it on nappy rash and then sticking your hand in to get more.

I hope your lecturer lectures in something other than a science subject; Isn't it an antiseptic/disinfectant?

I see the container mentions "napkin rash", sounding like something you'd get in a cheap restaurant.

this is just an educated guess but i dont think it's either...it's just a healing cream which doesn't nessesarily mean it's antiseptic or a disinfectant

Yes, because antiseptic is a breeding ground for germs.

Considering it's supposedly an Irish company/product, their Irish website is woeful! Actually, it's below woeful, considering half of it doesn't even appear!

Well he lectures microbiology and was head of science at one stage so I'd imagine there was tiny bit of truth to his ramblings. Probably poo germs on the lid of it either way.

So microbial bacteria somehow live and multiply in an antiseptic environment without a food source.

Have you actually seen his degrees?

A bit of name confusion is hardly the worst that can happen with Sudocrem. My poor grandad, when my parents came up to visit with a baby (and a big tub of the stuff for nappy rash) thought it was a tub of lovely, soft vanilla ice-cream. When they went out, he took a sneaky spoonful. Apparently he couldn't get the taste/texture out of his mouth for ages.

Whatever the fcck you call it, don't put it around your ballbag.

    That's my experience anyway.

Had a bit of 'bollox bloom' there in the last hot spell, and the nadsack was was a bit angry around the creases and the seam.

Slung a dollop of Sudo on her before retiring to bed, in full hope that she'd be back to 'blue flag' standard by morning.

    :eek:No focking way!!!

Angrier than ever, and the whole nipsy area was red raw and itchy.

Good scope out with shower and hot face cloth ,followed by savlon and caldescene got her dried up and two days later she was as well presented, and tidy as a Parish priest's.

Watch that Sudo, didn't work for me.:pac:

Sudocrem just sounds like a weird and really stupid name for a product, I'd never get use to saying it so this interesting revelation is too late for me. It will always be Sudocream to me and anybody who calls it sudocrem to my face will get a slap!

I presume it is meant to be like "soothing cream", I knew it was not spelt cream but always pronounce it that way, just like I pronounce cadburys creme eggs like cream (though there was a post in the snack forum with somebody calling them crem eggs.)

I did think sudocrem was spelt sudocreme because of the eggs. These stupid spellings are a bad idea these days as it makes searching websites hard, especially forums where people will tend to spell it wrong. Have to use that OR syntax.

Sudocrem is very good for healing cuts & sunburn, I get slagged for using it, I thought it was a worldwide product and was looked at like a nutter asking for it abroad, saying "you know the stuff, for babies bums". The main ingredient is zinc oxide, which has loads of uses.
