Thanks. Am going to try rows next time I'm in the gym.

    Some ideas:
    • deadlifts
    • pull ups (palms away) / chin ups (palms in)
    • barbell rows
    • one arm dumbbell row
    • face pulls

I'm gonna do something I don't normally do and agree with d'Oracle....

If you were to ONLY do one back exercise, bent over/Pendlay rows are the ones that'll cover all the bases. I'd probably pick Pendlay's tbh.

They are indeed great, but why would anyone only do one excercise for their back?

    they/them/theirs

    They wouldn't... But like I said, "IF you were ONLY to do one" then Pendlay Rows would be the best bet because;
-they train your lats in two ways - rowing and extending your back
-they train your lower back form a stabilisation standpoint
-they train your upper back too

Can anyone tell me is the inverted row a good exercise for the back? Would it target the same area as the bent over barbell row?

'Cos when you are laying on the beach scoping the babes, no one can see your back :D

deadlifts are best tho! not everyone wants to do them for many different reasons, but they are best for the back along with pull ups.

Just the question I was gonna ask:) So ye, would you be better of replacing the Inverted row with the Pendlay or is it just a case of adding the Pendlay to your routine?

Inverted rows are awesome for upper back and shoulder health. Pendlay Rows are great for strength. I do both personally. Pendlay's can be a bit tricky to get the hang of if you don't have someone showing you them tho.

And OT... "PokeHerKing" - is that a reference to poking a womans partner?? :D:D

I was just trying to start a fun game.
Next person would go "Rows? Try xxx".

    Damn....

    I got it.

Hanley isn't too good in these situations, it's one of the downsides of being "half-machine".

oh, he's going to beat me.
