Wait, you got Mass Effect 3 without properly playing the first two? I wouldn't recommend it. I loved ME3 as a follow-up from the first two...

Mass effect = I returned it on the same day I bought it, what a load of ****e.

There is no way that you could have formed a solid opinion of the game in less than 10 hours. I have played shovelware for ten hours before deciding it was rubbish. With a broad, dynamic game like Mass Effect, you really have to experience it all before judging, same as with any game.

I played through.. whatever 30% of the trophies in mass effect 2 on PS3 are.

Civ V is €7.49 here if anybody is interested. That's probably the cheapest I've seen it. It requires Steam and doesn't come with any of the DLC unfortunately.

    It is a glorious timesink.

Ordered Crysis 2 and the new Deus Ex game, hopefully they'll improve my dreadful record of getting into Xbox games.

Also, a couple of Football Manager seasons, be grand.

Why the hell is the game I preordered on play.com for €134.99 on sale for €94.97 on Gamestop?

    http://www.gamestop.ie/Xbox%20360/Games/11503/max-payne-3-special-edition

Starting to think maybe I should change my order... :\

    You paid that much?

    Those prices are extortionate man.

But a statue! And a keychain!

D'you reckon play will bring the price down or would I be safer off to preorder with Gamestop and cancel the play one?

I wasn't intersted in max payne at first, cos the only rockstar game I've ever liked is red dead, and this looked closer to GTA, but... damn it looks fine :D

Have you played the first two? Great games, although those two weren't made by Rockstar.

Max Payne's approach isn't anything like GTA really, just a straight ahead 3rd person shooter with lot's of action and Matrix style special effects. Great entertainment.

I haven't no. It appealed to me partly cos it looked like a good third person cover shooter :D

I'm still a little wary about this one to be honest, I've great time for Remedy as a studio, and really hope R* don't take the soul out of the series.

Have never played the first one, but watched the brother play it on PC back in the day, then played MP2 on PS2 and loved it (game that introduced me to my favourite band in the world ever :) ) so really hope this one can live up to my expectations.

Yeah I was half thinking they are going to add a big exploring element into it!

What band were in MP2? Played it a few months ago, can't remember any in it?

Poets of the Fall. Their song "Late Goodbye" is a leitmotif in the game (Mona sings it in the shower, Janitor sings it in the basement of Max' apartment complex) and it's the song for the credits. When I first discovered it I didn't have fast internet, so I used to fire up the game EVERY day for like 3 weeks to listen to the song. :P

Fun Fact: They were the band in Alan Wake as well, under the name Old Gods of Asgard.

Civ V is free to play this weekend on Steam for anybody who wants to try it. Also 75% off (€10 for GOTY edition, €7.50 for base game). The obvious reason is that they want more people to buy the full price expansion coming out in June.

Massive time sink of a game though, takes a few hours to complete a standard sized game even on quick.

I've always wanted to get into the Civ games... I picked up the complete Civ III and Civ IV for about a fiver each a few months ago and have yet to put any time in... :(

I did manage to finish off Max Payne 3 this week though (review in sig if interested), an awesome game that I'd recommend to anyone.

Unfortunately, I'm on 3 broadband (dongle internet :( ) so tonight I'm gonna have to go through the hassle of trying to share my laptop internet with my Xbox because the MP Multiplayer is meant to be great craic. Hopefully the inbuilt wifi in the slim console will finally pay off....

Started a playthrough of GTAIV tonight, hoping to finally get 100% in it this time. Also trying to get the Liberty City Minute achievement so looks like I'll be reloading the game every time I fail a mission. :P

    Anyone else following E3?

Just finished watching the MSoft conference, very meh. Splinter Cell: Blacklist looks pretty cool, but a lot of the rest of it was Kinect overload.

Yes, yes I have. And it is epic. Probably my GOTY for last year.

I was halfway through Invisible war and then started playing this. Gonna be hard to go back to that one, this is a better game, engrossing stuff!

I never played IW, but I've the original on PS2 and it's one of my all time favourite games. Mainly because it proves you don't need outstanding graphics to make a good game.

HR was brilliant, so much replay value in it as well because there's so many ways to go about certain missions. I must go back and do the honeybadger approach soon.

What's the honeybadger approach? In the original game I basically just killed everything! A bit more stealth used in this game. I think you have to cos if you go all gung ho you die very easily.
