Hey guys, got my ACL reconstructed about a month ago and according to surgeon and physio I need to build up my quads, especially my VMO muscle again.
Question is, ive been eating a calorie defecit for the time ive been off as I dont want to put on fat when I cant really do much/any cardio. Do ya think this will really hold me back or if I keep at the exercises even in defecit I can strengthen the muscle again.

Not sure if we can answer this question here. IF you are good to go then there's no reason not to squat, etc.

Will Heffernan at Informed Performance has helped people with tears rehab and get stronger, might be worth while paying him a visit?

Other than that, make sure you're squatting properly.

This one's ok. He's already gotten advice from a medical professional.

thanks for the reply, not quite up to a full squat yet. doing wall squats at the minute along with leg presses but not with full extension yet.

My main query is more with the diet end of things, is the fact Im keeping to a calorie deficit going to hinder my ability to rebuild this muscle.

as long as your protein intake is high, it should be ok.

Also, as long as its not a huge deficit, as in, if you're running 100 or 200 calorie deficit, i cant see how it'd be a problem

Why not go with maintenance calories? That would be best, no?
