The Playstation E3 2010 general chat thread

So we're just under a week off the biggest gaming show of the year, so thought it would be fun to start a thread where we can localise all anticipation and rumours prior to the show, and all the 'OMGs / ZOMGs / WTFs / giant enemy crabs' of the show itself.

Anyone have any particular expectations for the show this year? My personal hope is that we get more information on The Last Guardian. It's been a while since we've heard anything, and the trailer only gave general hints of what it will be about, so more info - and, ideally, a general idea for a release date! - would be welcome. Curious to see if they announce any exclusives - the rumblings a while back of a PSP Uncharted would be a nice surprise, as I don't think we can expect an announcement of an Uncharted 3 'til around this time next year.

However, I fear a lot of the show will be dominated by the Playstation Move, which IMO is a rather redundant item altogether. They look pretty, but they'd have to pull out something impressive for me to go from 'meh' to 'woah!'. Let's just hope it doesn't cost five hundred and ninety nine US dollars :pac:

Nintendo Press Conference - Tuesday, June 15th, 1700h Irish time
Sony Press Conference - Tuesday, June 15th 2000h Irish time

EA's is on Monday at 2200h our time. Ubisoft and Valve events are on Tuesday morning 0100h and 0300h our time unfortunately, I shan't be staying up that late but I'm sure I'll have fun reading over the news during breakfast. Konami's is on Wednesday at 2100h.

I can't imagine anything on Assassin's Creed 3, but I'm sure they'll have loads on AC Brotherhood which is another game starring Ezio. I don't think they're considering it a full sequel, more building on the foundations of the last game without having an entirely new character etc... which I imagine will be the case for the third proper outing (or perhaps a full

I hope not! I can't imagine Naughty Dog would or could rush out a sequel in a year - it isn't enough time to make a (justified) new story or polished gameplay. As I said, I'd imagine E3 2011 will by Uncharted 3 territory. But I secretly hope for a PSP spin-off, just to provide my necessary action serial thrills for the year

They announced the release date there a couple of weeks ago. Or a release window at least. November this year it's looking like.

Also Agent is rumoured to be their.

Small gossip has been building momentum this week about showcasing something from the next GTA game. But I highly doubt it. Something would have leaked about a game in development.

Been waiting for something on LA Noire for 2 years now...

Would love Sony to showcase their heavy hitters for the next year (LBP2 and Killzone 3 etc) but like most here I think the Move will probably be getting all the stage time

Would also like something announced about Mirrors Edge 2... I live in hope :pac:

Max Payne 3 has just been delayed again so I doubt we'll see anything from it.

They might announce a delay so that they can incorporate some ****e that nobody cares about like 3D

We'll be hearing about Motorstorm 3 too it looks like. A fairly solid-looking leak appeared there a couple of days ago. Set in a post-apocalyptic San Francisco it looks like.

They will have 1 or 2 surprises but i reckon most of it will be playable demos of Killzone 3, LBP 2, Move etc etc. News on PSN+, PSP relaunch, They could announce Uncharted 3 for 2011.

Seems the majority of stuff set for a release this year we all ready know about so it will be just demos, stuff that will be a surprise will be set for release in over a years time so i wont be able to get excited about it.

I know its prob a hoax but im most excited about the possibility of Valve having half life ep 3.

For streaming I'd recommend GameSpot, it's where I watched it last year and I didn't get any connection dropouts.

Microsofts Natal conference is on Sunday too. Which could be great if it's a total shambles of an hour and a half of people flailing manically on stage.

That won't be streamed live though, and won't be shown until Tuesday, and no set time has been given (although I've read it'll be streaming during the Sony conference? ). I would like for Natal to wow me, because I have close to zero hype for it. I will be buying Move I think so I'd like to see some must buy games. I think 'The Shoot' looks awesome. :pac:

Jack Tretton has said they are going all out this year so im hoping to see some good stuff. No doubt Microsoft will bring out multiple A list celebrities like they do every year.

Hopefully Kevin Butler makes an appearance.

I assume this 'Halo for PS' rumour is coming from the fact that Bungie's next game is multiplatform? And it's not like Bungie have made any other games... (Myth anyone? ^^)

We've had very few leaks so far this year, apart from that leaked document from Sega earlier this year that hinted at Dreamcast games coming to the PSN and the Motorstorm 3 screens. Kinda makes this year more exciting.

I don't think its a case of having few leaks. They purposefully announced all the games they would show before anyone expected them to to avoid leaks. KZ3, Infamous 2, LBP2 etc. I actually think its going to be a weak press conference with most of the talk being about Move and PSN+.

All they have to do to please me is show more of The Last Guardian and announce that the Team Ico Collection is real. Everything else is just a bonus. I'm not expecting a PSP2 or anything big like some people. Let's hope I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Sony were smart with those announcements though, they got 3 of their biggest games on the cover of games magazines the month of E3. So they got loads of attention now instead of possibly being drowned out by all the rabid Zelda fans come next week. :pac:

I'm not sure what, but I think Sony still have one or two surprises up their sleeves. Maybe not a megaton announcement, but a solid new IP like MAG or Modnation Racers when they were announced. Solid, interesting new games. hopefully anyway.

Yup Last Guardian is my rabid hope for this show, any kind of news at all. LBP2 news will be nice too, but I think a lot of those details will be out already. I really really think that Move will be what they're trying to grab headlines with though, which is a shame, as it really stinks of trying to hop on the Wii bandwagon (which, incidentally, isn't anywhere near as stable as it was).

The cynic in me hopes for some trademark Sony bloopers in the press conference too :pac:

Most likely sony just hyping up move,3d,psn premium and a new dashboard and calling it 'ps4' rather than a full on new console but if it really is the playstation 4 I'm lost for words. It's only 4 years since the ps3 and I wouldn't really expect the next gen to start for another 2 years.

I'm lumping this into this thread as its all rumours/speculation at this time.

No doubt PS4 is in development, but like you said, it's a few years off yet.

The videos are definately real. Destructoid got them from Sony directly as far as I know.
