The dealership that had it for sale has closed - perhaps he's an ex employee clearing out stock?

I emailed him about it asking him about the repair job and he e mailed me back saying that he only bought the car of a garage. He then called me a knob with nothing better to do with my time:D.

At least he has the decency to say it was crashed I suppose...

I have a hunch I know who is selling it...photos taken in Hollyhill anyway for a start I think from a company name...other cars seem to be the same...

this mini should actually just be put off the road at this stage, its only been sold so many times because of what it is , naieve (usually young female) buyers who arent investigating it a lot , this would have probably never have happened this many times if it was anything other than a supermini / hot hatch, the seller is just exploiting the market this car usually appeals to

No decency at all - saying it's been repaired to a high standard. If someone crashes in that it'll end in tears.

    Shocking!!!!!!!!!!

I read the original thread, what a disgrace

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,822 ✭✭✭✭EPM

Could I just say this though - the person selling it may have bought it not realizing how fooked it actually is.

I know thats why i asked paint doctor to root it out. I couldnt find it. I wanted people to know what were talking about, like yourself that didnt see the original thread.

If he's in the trade, it'll be an interesting sale. If not, it's buyer beware.

He will when he reads this;)

    The ad is gone

Fair enough I did not realise it was that bad.

Any instrument available to stop this, because at this stage this is almost criminal knowing the history of the car and trying selling it...

Is it really bad? Loads of structural damage not repaired properly?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

That got pulled quick enoughh, clearly the seller reads boards.

Just had a thought, our very own Newstalk Motormouth should do a feature on this sort of thing. Get SIMI in, gets the Guards in, get the consumer advice in. Have a decent discussion about this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

I got confirmation that it was donedeal who removed the ad based on several people reporting it.

Fair play to them. That was quick, i'd recommend donedeal over carzone any day of the week.

Newstalk Motormouth could nearly do a whole programme on this Mini alone! They could get "the nice people" (one of which I know since I was 12) that originally sold it in for a lengthy interview.

Thread makes no sence to me with no pics.

It's back again. Spotted it being repaired in a workshop a few weeks back, and saw it today being driven by an L driver. An uber hot blonde L driver though, so if anyone manages to stop the driver and have a chat, it'll be worth it :) Feel sorry for her, she probably has no idea how dangerous the car actually is.

If they had a half decent look at it and didn't tell her I'd be pretty pissed off

Maybe it's been repaired "to a very high standard". Again...

So it has been sold again.
What the law relating to selling stuff like that at auction for example. Im assuming the trader who had it is breaking the law by selling a known unsafe anywhere or does the sold as seen get him out of all responsibility

It would be an interesting case should the car ever be involved in a fatal accident. The words "negligible homocide" spring to mind...

Negligent I'd say ;) Unless it had a load of pajama wearing spongers in it. Then the loss would be negligible.

When the new owner gets the log book back from shannon and sees number of previous owners which must be about 562 at this stage not say hold on this isnt right..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

The old school log book is alas no more, the current document gives no clue to the number of previous owners

Unless they have changed it again (my car was purchased 4 years ago).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,683 ✭✭✭✭Owen

Log books do indicate the number of previous owners.

Of course they show number of previous owners. You might want to have a closer look.
Dont show record of all owners details though

Indeed they do. Mike65 is on ZOG.

    :o found it!

    section J.3 - 2

talk about less than obvious. The old style book should have been retained far more useful for checking history

Why are these cars not impounded and crushed?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,822 ✭✭✭✭EPM

On what grounds? It's somehow been nct'd and all. Would be pretty hard I'd say unfortunately

I worked with a Polish guy a couple of years ago who told me his friend worked in an NCT center in Galway and for €100 he would get any car to pass

And before anyone says it, his friend was Irish

Thanks Mick, I put it in and it lit up like a Christmas tree. Recorded as a category b write off in the uk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,688 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Oh god. Cat B. Enough said.

We can also assume then that it passed NCT in this condition which is very disappointing.
