Yep really looking forward to it myself. Anyone think iphone 4.0 software will be released this evening ? Plus i hope they don't keep ireland waiting too long for the new iphone. Will vodafone be able to sell new iphone or do o2 have some exclusivity left ? Cause o2 always always make a complete mess up of any iphone release so far.

If last year is anything to go by, a golden master will be released for devs today followed by the public release a day or two before the new iPhone is released.

Also I think O2's exclusivity deal is expired, Vodafone should be selling them on the same day.

the slate device mentioned in the OP looks like some sort of big trackpad-esque touch input controller yokey. Like a graphics tablet type affair, only multitouch enabled. COuld be interesting for anyone working in graphics or design. No doubt many people will "find" a use for it too.

Other than that, I think a lot of the cats are out of the bag, Iphone 4 and the new OS. Would be nice to see some other hardware changes/upgrades, but I'll be surprised if there is anything too groundbreaking. I have a feeling this is all gonna be Iphone related

    From MacRumors:

9:37 am Some last minute rumors trickling in suggesting Apple TV, unannounced iPhone OS 4 features (printing?)... we'll find out soon enough.

WE should have a last minute poll guessing the name of the next iPhone.

    iPhone 4G
    iPhone HD
    or just iPhone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

Part of me suspects just 'iPhone' as well.

Won't be called iPhone 4G in my opinion. I know it's the fourth generation but it ain't a '4G' phone so naming it that might be a bit confusing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

iPhone 5, just to be confusing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,487 ✭✭✭banquo

Apple Store is still up, so nothing being released immediately it looks like :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    will be just iphone tbh.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 688 ✭✭✭lalee17

I think it'll be called iPhone, or iPhone 4. Why would it be 4G?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,537 ✭✭✭thecommander

Has to be some way of differentiating from 1st gen.

Why? they did the same with iPod

1st Gen no longer exists. Then again, say the new iPhone is called 'iPhone', and the older 3GS is called 'iPhone 3GS' - the second one sounds like a better version of iPhone, and is confusing to consumers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭besty

    IPhone 4?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 675 ✭✭✭ant043

    iPhone HD is my guess.

How about iPhone 4 and iPhone 4 HD?

Actually, no. Jobs made a point years ago about having low and high spec, consumer and business models. Hence iMac and Mac Pro, MacBook and Macbook Pro. So we could see the iPhone models being catagorised like that too.

1st gen does exist, they just don't sell them anymore.

there's was nothing differentiating the first 3 ipod's until the iPod video came along.

they don't do it on any of the iMac/macbook/macbook pro/mac mini/mac pro ranges so it's not unheard of

    It's on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,413 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    I reckon 'iPhone HD'

This reminds me of the september 2009 event when I spent the whole time waiting for something to happen.

Though I do heart my 64GB iPod Touch.

what's worrying though is we are nearly half way through and nothing great has been announced.
