its like tayto and king, people say there is no difference, but there is, anymore examples

Heinz ketchup vs any other stuff that masquerades as ketchup.

like McVities Jaffa Cakes and the store brand. There's a difference! I can tell, dammit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

true that. a big difference. Im a jaffa expert. McVities are the nicest. Dunnes stores own brand in the blue box are a direct copy of McVities so they taste good too. But all the other brand's like ChocMe...they copy the Jacobs version of the jaffa. Don't like that kind.

Been eating em for donkies years. :D

Red Bull. Honestly there is no substitute, boost, red rooster, kick all those Red Bull replacements are MUCK!! Don't charge me a fiver for a Red Bull at the till when you've given me "Burn".

    Piss off with that muck.

Oh EDIT: Because someone will say such and such a drink tastes exactly the same as Red Bull. No, it doesn't shut up.

They're playing the odds - 80% of people won't be able to tell the difference, and 95% won't care regardless.

Fanta changing its formula several times in the past while - the one with loads of fruit juice was good, but they all taste different so it's like buying a different drink each time. I really don't like the current "Friday Fanta" one - bleugh! I generally find it annoying when companies change their formulas and the product tastes different (but not in a good way) - if it 'aint broke...

The best jaffa in my Opinion is tescos own brand but to be also to be only eaten from the freezer. Dont like any other brand. One of Lifes pleasures.

Along the same lines, 7up and Sprite.
If I ask for 7up, I don't want generic white fizzy stuff with some sort of lemony type flavour, but 7up.
Damn you stupid trolley on the train, and damn my hungover brain a few weeks ago which didn't notice it was sprite until it was too late....

I agree that there is a difference; Sprite is much, much nicer than 7up.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,762 ✭✭✭✭stupidusername

7up is better than Sprite, you can taste the fakeness in Sprite.

Coke is different to Pepsi, but who cares.

DEFINITELY prefer real butter to the spreadable shít. Nothing better than toast with proper butter.

AND I don't care what anyone tries to tell me, there is a horrible taste off tap water, so I will continue to buy bottled water.

Oh and by the way, all 'sodas' that are diet or sugar free have an ingredient called aspartame.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭ldxo15wus6fpgm

There hasn't been fruit juice in 7up for ages :p

Sprite is sex in a bottle.

Really Cherry Coke is that even available in Ireland (although to be fair you may not live here) But seriously Cherry Coke i just cannot see myself waking up with the hangover from Hades and downing 2 litres of Cherry Cola without it touching the sides. Real Coca Cola for the win!( and the hangover cure)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭ldxo15wus6fpgm

I think you'll find that cherry coke (while still delicious) is inferior to cherry tango, which is the real king of drinks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,314 ✭✭✭weiland79

Drives me mad! I ordered a Diet Coke with a pizza last week, and the delivery guy arrived with a Pepsi Light. All they had to do was tell me over the phone that they didn't have Diet Coke and I'd have ordered a different drink! Now I have a can of Pepsi Light which is going to sit un-drank in my fridge for the rest of eternity (I mean, who the frick drinks Pepsi Light?!)

Haha, no it's purely the taste! I just hate the taste of Coke, it's way too sugary!

McVities jaffas are bland mofos. The orangey stuff isn't tangy enough and the cake is powdery. Go go M&S dark chocalate jaffas!
Coke>Pepsi, except in the States, where Pepsi is kind of nice.

    Chef ketchup without a doubt.

I used to be a Jacobs Jaffa Cakes man and still wouldn't turn them down, but Cadbury's Jaffa Cakes are amazing.

King Cheese & Onion too, get away from me with that Tayto muck.

    This.

The green Pot Noodle used to be the only one of them that i could eat. About 3 years ago they changed the chicken & mushroom flavouring and i didn't like it at all, so stopped buying them. I just couldn't understand it. Its not as if people who never bought them in the first place are gonna say "look, a new and improved Pot Noodle, lets try it", they're just alienating their existing customer base.

Also, those generic steak and kidney pies you get in delis up and down the country.....they've either changed the recipe for the gravy or everyone in the whole land bought them off the same company who've now gone bust.
