Could be her last mission or she could go LON for STS-134. With a bit of luck we'll hear more over the next couple of weeks. A lot of uncertainty surrounding the manifest at the moment.

The air frames were rated for 100 flights iirc. Other than regular OMDP she could easily go on for a long time yet.:)

Latest whispers are that they're thinking of re-arranging the flights back to their original positions,ie. STS-134 to fly before STS-133.

I can only assume they've had some good news on the AMS testing and are thinking of going back to the original manifest.

Musical chairs:) Difficult for anyone trying to plan a trip over to catch one:)
I just hope they take their time and not rush them.

I reckon they'll still only get one more away this year and one in late winter next year. And if STS-135 gets a green light it'll probably be a year from now.

Everybody at NASA talking from both sides of their mouth:eek:

those who wanted Constellation to go ahead V those fighting for STS extension fighting for the funding, and then there was the politicions..............

ynotdu get that signed.. A pint in KSC could easily turn into a pint in KFC if it's a verbal guarantee :) although LL seems like an honourable chap lol

Delighted to see the prospect of a 2011 launch. I'd dearly love to be there. What's the chances of it being a summer launch?

The NASA staff that are in favour want it to launch in June 2011 to give the ISS as many spares as possible.

I would get it signed by Lord Lucan,Shergar,or Elvis but they are hard to find!:)

At the moment the schedule is up in the air. Presently it looks like there'll be at least one flight before the end of this year and one in late winter/early spring next year. They're for definite.

If STS-135 gets the money to fly it'll probably fly in June next year. We should no more shortly as they're currently evaluating the launch schedule.

June 24th is the date been touted now. NASA are backing the mission so it's a case of getting the funding for it.

As reported on NSF today STS-135 is looking more and more like a reality:)

This mission now has full NASA backing and is with the government (not sure if it has to go via OSTP etc). One astronaut claims a crew has been selected and await the go for training.

We expect to know if STS-135 is a go for June 24, 2011 this month.

After Challenger it was hard because of the lack of information. Letters to NASA for info packs were one of my only outlets. They always send back great stuff:) Flight magazine was also a great source of information. Because we had no internet, we made do with what was available. There was also a magazine called Countdown, which was a great magazine dedicated to the Space Shuttle.
    countdowndec04.jpg
It was US based and arrived once a month in the post. I was like a child at christmas waiting for it to arrive each month.:) Dont forget before the Internet this was the only source of info and photos.

After Columbia we had the internet which made it so much easier to keep up to date on progress. I never mind gaps between flights as I enjoy following the processing and planning for the flights. When they are too close to each other you find yourself with too much happening. Info overload:)
With only 2/3 flights left I hope they take their time and spread it out a bit to make it last as long as possible:)

I think I'd go back and see the last one.

I'm actually torn on this one. Obviously i'd love to see another launch but after the one i went to went so well i'd be afraid another launch would end up like my first 2 attempts and end up costing me a fortune.

Key is to book the tickets as last minute as possible. I know that doesn't help if theres a scrub very close to launch, but it takes away the months/weeks of worry coming up to it. I found that anyway.

I made my peace with the launch the week before, I set aside the time and money and if for any reason I didn't see I was happy that I had done my best, otherwise you'd be heartbroken and broke.
