    Mine are the following:

Bringing my dog for an early morning walk.

Being able to eat ice cream without wearing gloves.

The smell of freshly cut grass.

The glimmer of sun, or rumour of it, puts most people in good humour.

Reading the papers in the garden on a Sunday morning, weather permitting.

Getting up at the crack of dawn so I get loads done in the day.

    :)

Before the construction bubble burst I often enjoyed the sight of a young lad wearing jeans & just a hi viz vest with nothing on underneath.

But like most of ye my eyes were often assaulted by the sight of a twenty stone hairy man wearing the same :p

A good heavy sun shower just when all the women are walking home from work. People going stupid in the sun and burning themselves to a cinder. The championship and the crowds of highly charged married men hugging and kissing the star midfielder as he holds his two year old child aloft over his straw hat like you would the Sam Maguire. People with small convertible cars at last driving the open road with roof down and ac full blast, yes you finally got the roof down but look a grey cloud

Driving with one arm out the window, summer tunes blaring and having no general direction, just driving.

Two day old sunburn. There's something oddly satisfying about poking the tender spots after the initial pain's died down. Also: sun-bleached hair!

    Pints of Bulmers in Gibneys

    :)

sitting in a beer garden, few summer tunes playing in the background, sipping an ice cold bulmers and blackcurrant.

coming home after a night out when the sun is coming up and the birds start singing

When it's really warm, differentiating between how much ya like the sun, but not like heat with a bottle of ice cold water in your hand

Getting up at 1 in the afternoon & cracking open that first can of dutch gold in the sun. Massive.

Throw on me swimming togs & walk to the post office to collect me dole & buy fags around 2, head into the bookies & throw on a few bets. I loves a bet me. Then into the pub with anto, decco, stevo, jono & snotser & drink till tea-time. Deadly.

Head into offie & grab a couple a 2 litres of druids brew cider & all 7 of us head off to the beach in anto's punto.

Go back home (parent's house) & get mangled on more dutch gold till 5 in da mornin. Sound.

What I hate: next door neighbours deciding it would be great fun to sit in their front garden and talk to their neighbours on the other side UNTIL 3AM THIS MORNING. And they've only just moved in too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,575 ✭✭✭✭FlutterinBantam

Suspending a sweaty and paper thin nutsack in a bowl of iced water after a long stroll on the beach and flushing out the sand, bag grease, and knob Gruyere from a flaccid member.

Then on with a set of fresh jocks from the fridge.

Can't be whacked I tells ya.

Good weather, going on holiday, low electricity/gas bills, Wimbledon, picnics, smell of freshly mown lawn, bbq's, driving with all the windows down, going bare legged, wearing sandals, the smell of sun-tan lotion....I'm sure there's more... :D

Ironic how everyone is saying what they love about summer; cleavage, legs, etc. Yet they're sitting in on their laptops.
It's lovely and sunny now, get out!
