Hi, I want to make some temporary benches for a charity do out of scaffold planks and beer kegs.

I want to tie the planks to the handles on the top rim of the kegs.

I could use a basic knot but is there one more suited that wont loosen.

One that automatically tightens itself would be great.

I Googled knots and there are millions of them ;-)

There are loads of ways to do this - don't know about any self tightening knots though.

I would tie a bowline around one handle of the keg, then wrap the rope a couple of times around the plank and finish with a round turn and two half hitches on the other handle of the keg. Don't use rope thats too thick either.
