Thanks to everyone who nominated so far.

We've got lots of nominations for the first batch of categories, so I'm going to move the timetable up. The current threads will now be locked on Monday Night and the next batch will go up then. The final batch will go up on Thursday evening until the following Monday and we can kick off the vote then (no need to drag this out for 3+ flippin' weeks) :)

Missed most of them too 'coz I went away. Grrr! Well voted in all categories this time that I cared about straight away.

I wonder how many people are voting for worst actor/actress because they don't like the characters they play. A lot of the nominations don't make much sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,518 ✭✭✭matrim

I've a question on some nominations but didn't want to raise them on the threads in the awards forum.

Glee and a couple of other things are being nominated for "Should have been cancelled" and "Jumping the shark" but surely as it's in it's first season it shouldn't be in those categories.

It has been renewed for seasons 2 & 3, so there's no reason it shouldn't be in that category... As for Jumping the Shark - that's up in the air...

But you haven't seen season 2 yet to know if it's good. I'd take should have been cancelled to be should have ended the season before.

I could kind of see a reason for jumping the shark if it started very well and then went bad half way through the season.

BTW this is all with me not having watched Glee to tell if it's good or not so it's not some way to defend a show I like

Just because it's in it's maiden season doesn't mean a thing to be honest!

It deserves a place (IMO) in both in those categories as the show is a shadow of it's former self since coming back from break.

It's writing is lacking, sickening and tired moral messages are coming thick and fast, characters are disappearing and reappearing (Terri, Emma and that Jesse kid) with no explanation and it's just not as fun.

The show transformed from being a largely damn fine written show, which I defended from naysayers, to being unwatchable drivel!

This is, of course, all my opinion. But no, it certainly shouldn't be exempt from any categories.

3rd and final batch of categories will go up tonight.

Voting will start next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I dread to think of how tough the actual voting will be

If 'Lost' doesn't win best finale, I'll buy a hat and eat it. Don't think it should win but reckon it will.

I predict Dexter, Supernatural and Glee to feature alot :p

I'm thinking 24 could do ok out of it too :D

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 18,001 Mod ✭✭✭✭ixoy

'Glee' will win most over-rated show for definite. I like it and all but yes, it's over-rated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

OK, after 4 hours counting nominations.... all done.

    You'll be voting tomorrow. :)

Can you please add spoilers to the first posts in threads like 'Best Twist' ?
I don't know how easy that will be to do in the poll itself (maybe don't specify in the poll text but in a follow up post) but I just had a plot twist ruined in the nominees thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Will do - apologies.
I'll do something in the survey too (maybe word them differently or something)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

how long will we have to vote? i might be gone for a few days, don't want to miss the voting

just a suggestion to the spoiler/twist issue - if you put up a poll with option 1/2/3 etc, and explain them in first post with spoiler, it wouldn't ruin any plot for people who haven't seen it
    /suggestion :)

    thanks
    whiteman

Voted... It was really tough - some strong competition this year... Don't think I can call any of them...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,303 ✭✭✭Poochie05

That was really hard in some categories :(
    Very tough this year.

Voted....some polls i would have liked to have voted twice....but gave it my bst shot. I supported Spartacus in what sections i could.

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

I can't believe Ashes to Ashes isn't in the finale section
Rigged to allow Lost an easy win :D

Vergara Vs Hendricks was the toughest vote of all.

I dunno - I think Dexter is in with a great chance in that category...

Laura VanderHOT BETTER WIN....OR they will be trouble!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,297 ✭✭✭Ron DMC

    Voted.

Some of those decisions were literally down to the flip of a coin.

Most went to Supernatural for me. Hands down best show this year. feck lost. It was my fav show for years and I even liked the ending but the entire season before that wasn't great imo. Supernatural was brilliant and I gave Dexter any other noms especially John Lithgow. He was amazing this year.

Laura VanderHOT BETTER WIN....OR they there will be trouble!

Must be - I know I put "Ashes to Ashes" as a nomination! Sure we know that secretly it's the real winner in this category..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Just to show everything is above board, I did a recount of the Finale nominees.
Top 6 (or so) go through, so Ashes just missed out (so did Supernatural, surprisingly)
Very strong season of TV, I have to say.

    Lost - 14
    Dexter - 12
    24 - 12
    House - 7
    Chuck - 5
    Greys - 5
    Spartacus - 5

    Ashes - 4
    Supernatural - 4
    V - 3

Could you show us the figures for the 'Best Single Episode of a TV Show' nominees?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

They're the nomination counts, not the votes.

Edit: Balls, looks like I messed up on that category. I got mixed up on some of the episodes of 24 (21 and 22) and that threw some of the nominations out. Some people put episode numbers, and some put the hours (12pm:1pm, 1pm:2pm). My fault, I should have double checked. The nominees should have been:

    Lost - The End
    Dexter - Getaway
    Spartacus - Kill them All
    24 - Ep 22
    Lost - Ab Aeterno
    BB - One Minute
    Lost - The Candidate

In the current survey, House (Broken) and Dexter (Hungry Man) shouldn't be there, and 24 (Episode 22) and Lost (The Candidate) should be.

I'll remove it from the survey, and set up a poll in the TV Awards forum to revote on this one.
    Sorry guys. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Revote Required for Best Single Episode, for the reason explained above.

Any votes cast for this in the main survey are null and void, so please revote if you have already done so.
