Couch - 5k ankle pain

Have bought new runners and have done 2 days of 25 min jogging. Since the first day I've had ankle pain which i have never gotten before, was just wondering do people think its the duration of the run (as the longest I had run without stopping prior to that was 20 min), or is it just the fact I need to wear in the runners or is it that the runners mightnt be alright for me. Thanks

You are probably better off wearing your runners while walking around first to let your feet get used to them before setting off on a run. Also you are knew to running by the sounds of it as you are doing the couch to 5k program so are you overweight at all? Lastly are you sure they are proper running runners? if it persists best to go get it checked out by a doctor just in case you are doing more damage to it.

Hi, new to running, not overweight, it seems today to be just in the one ankle, its fine when I'm jogging but a couple of hours after I stop the pain starts to kick in. I bought new balance runners so I assumed they'd be Ok but they went straight from shoe box to jogging. We'll see how it goes, Im obviously doing something funny for it to be hurting.

could be nothing more then your ankle getting used to the idea of running but could be something more serious so your best bet would be to go to the Doc just in case. You can really do damage to yourself from running if something is not right.

Sorry but I have to close this. You could get advice on here that is potentially damaging to you. I'd suggest getting some gait analysis (lots of running shoe shops do this now) and / or visiting your doctor / a physio.

I can tell you that it's not the duration of the run. 25 minutes may be long for you, but it is not long.
