started diet 6/7 weeks ago and was doing well- cut down on carbs, cut out dairy (due to IBS) and started work out video, power plate and walking...have lost over a stone so far but for the past few weeks my weight loss has really stalled- im back on the carbs (ie bit of rice for dinner and porridge in the morn) but cant seem to lose the last 7lbs...anyone have any ideas on how i can kick start this weight loss??

    Typical day

7.30- soya yougart with some nuts (2/3 brazil nuts, almonds and wlanuts)

    10 am-porridge

2.00- lunch- protein with salad or if there is abso nada to eat in the work canteen i would get a baguette with gots cheese and salami (no mayo)

4.30- wheat free/dairy free treat from tesco range

7ish dinner- veg and protein with maybe a small bit of pasta or rice if i feel like it

    2lrs water per day

    Any help would really help!!!

    thanks

Open a free account at Fitday.com or Dailyplate.com and plug in your food to see what the calories are.

One thing that jumps out is that the carbs are creeping in, and not the good ones. A bagette at work will add up to a staggering amount of calories. Salami is one of those things which are low carb, but unless it's a really good one, I'd restrict it. Most commercial salami have tons of additives which won't do you any good.

A wheat free/dairy free treat from Tesco is likely to be pure carbs, with almost zero protein, but probably plenty of processed fats.

About exercise. Try throwing in the odd HIIT session. HIIT is High Intensity Interval Training, flat out sprints followed by recovery jog/walk, repeat for 8 -10 times. And of course, lift some weights.

    Hi Eileen

Thanks for the reply- those carbs are going to kill me:) and ur totally right they are sneaking their way back in- just have to get stricter with myself and stick to the salad bar!!

K its also time to get rid of the wheat/dairy free bars- do you prehaps know of any good sugar hit subsitute?

Not much point going low carb if you are going for a sugar hit! I do a thing with sugar-free jelly and cottage cheese which might make a nice snack? Or even a couple of square of really dark chocolate? I like the Lindt 99%, you just can't binge on that, but the cocoa hit does give an energy boost before a workout.

we have no where near enough info to say whether the carbs are the issue, or even if there is an issue. what weight are you op and whats your target? how about exercise routine? fruit and veg would be better than the bagel but the diet doesnt look too bad overall.. it could be down to calories in vs calories out

a proper training program would help lots - 15 press ups, 15 lunges/squats and 15 crunches/reverse ab curls done for 5 rounds would do a whole lot more than any amount of time on a power plate.

You can do much of this from home -

    and plenty of this -

Eileen- will try the lindt dark choccie- just need something that would keep those sugar cravings at bay

Corkcomp- im 5.7 and just under 10 stone- want to get down to 9.5 so not that far to go

Transform- thanks for the links- in addition to the vibro plate i also do davina's workout every other day- its boxercise so a lot of sqauts are involved and also a 10 min tummy work out with sit ups, crunches, side crunches and everything

    Well done so far kaykay.

Remember carbs can cause a vicious cycle effect- so your sugar cravings can be a direct follow up from eating the pasta, rice etc. If you eat less of the carbs and more veggies/protein/fat you'll find the cravings hit you less. Then have some of Eileen's chocolate or a low carb nut flapjack to fill in any temptation gaps with something that isn't awful for you!

yes davina's dvd is grand but after about a month most women need to move things on - ditch the power plate as your time could really be better spent doing proper exercise.

Keep varying how you train and the exercises you use all of this might also help -
