    Yeah it is I think.

It is Charles Brosnan in No. 9, with Jill Ireland, but the dilemma is what the film is, since they collaborated so frequently. It's arguably the trickiest one of the four that are left, though I did send the original ten pictures to someone and that was one of the films they got. That's my justification for including it! :p

    5. is sometimes mentioned as one of the worst films ever made, and was poorly received at the time of its release, though it has developed a cult following. It was a science fiction film, shot in Wicklow (!!!) in the mid-1970s and featured a very well known actor in the lead.

    6. is a seventeenth century murder mystery/sexual drama, and was - I believe - the first film shown on Channel Four.

    10. is one of the more effective sequences from a much-maligned 1979 film that was part of a very successful, long-running franchise.

    5. Zardoz is the only one I can find?

Argh! I can see how you've decided that, based on my clue, but it's not The Amityville Horror. :o

Let's just say the franchise started long before 1979 and it's still going...

It is Zardoz. Directed by John Boorman, who evidently decided to film on his doorstep, and starring Sean Connery. Well deduced.

... and credit to Mizu Ger too, who posted while I was repying to Theta.

Well I've seen a good few Charles Bronson westerns, but I'd never have got that without your clue.

    6. The Draughtsman's Contract. Although I done a little research and it seems that Stephen Frears' Walter was the first film on Channel 4. The former was the first original feature produced for Channel 4. Again, I wouldn't have got it without your clue. You're too kind, sir.

Franchise running long before 1979, with one of the movies released in that year, and still running? Made me think of both Star Trek and James Bond, both of which did have movies released that year... Going by yer wan's clothes, I'll say Bond, which would make the actual film Moonraker (which I guess is much maligned). Total guess work though as I don't remember that film at all, apart from the laser battles and Jaws falling in love!

Weirdly, I had it in my head that Channel Four showed it on their opening night, and it was subsequently (or even simultaneously) released in the cinema. Anyway, well done.

It is Moonraker. Some shrewd investigating there. Nasty Hugo Drax sets the dogs on her for helping Bond, a scene that jars with much of the rest of the film, although I do admit having a great deal of affection for Moonraker, probably 'cos it was the Bond film I saw the most as a kid. :o

Phew! Thanks everyone. More tomorrow... maybe. :D

A bit surprised this is the one still left.
It was by far the most recent movie from that lot!

The Director has been Oscar nominated numerous times.

It looks like Rosemarie Harris, who played Peter Parker's Aunt May in the Raimi Spider-Man films. So even though I've not seen it, I'll guess it's Before the Devil Knows You're Dead. Directed by Sidney Lumet.

    Delbertgrady: Excellent detective work.
It is indeed Before the Devil knows you're Dead. The last movie from the late great Mr. Lumet

And well worth a watch if you haven't seen it.
