Sorry, I missed that one. It's not How Green Was My Valley, but it is from later in that decade.

Sorry, no. Wrong actor. The actor in the screenshot wasn't always this well dressed on screen!

God nothing annoys me more than when one of these screenshots that I haven't a clue about turns out to be from a movie I've seen!

2. American drama from the last couple of years. The main actor passed away just before it's release.

I didn't get a chance to take some more screen captures for 1 & 10 so here's another clue for each:

1. Made by a veteran French director. I think this is the first time he's done an animated musical (or even an animation).

10. A "talkie". The director (pictured) was more used to not talking in films! The speech he makes at the end of this film got him more attention from the anti-communist groups in America at the time.
