Is it time to give the catholic church back the power they once had?

In light of everything that's going wrong with the country I think this is the only solution left. Give the catholic church the powers they once had over the state. Give people a decent catholic education and instill good catholic morals back in to people. Maybe then we'd be able to stop the government from stealing tax payers money from us and all this talk of abortion and gay rights that seems to have our country going off on a spiraling decline in to recession.


Non-secular states seem to work pretty good in the middle east. Look at Iran for instance. Probably the lowest crime rate in the world, little to no government corruption and they're even basically a nuclear power at this stage. The only real problem is that they're not Christians. However, it's a good example to go by.

Ok quite honest, please look into the history of this country. The Education system alone is still recovering from what the Church did to it and it is only now that serious developments and effective reforms are coming into place.

Associating abortion and gay rights to the recession is just wrong and unfounded. You are asking for serious replies. That is one for you.

Considering the people in the government would have been educated whilst the Catholic church had a lot more power, I don't see how giving them more power changes anything?

You realise back when the catholic church were the major authority in this country is was an economic ****hole of a country when most were prospering?

The reason Iran has such a low criminal rate is not because it's religious, it's because their punishments are insanely harsh and their prison systems are pretty much inhumane.

A simple bit of research would have shown you that Iran has a higher murder rate than Ireland, ranks as one of the ten most corrupt countries in the world and is not a nuclear power, basically or otherwise.

We also know quite a lot about medical treatments like pneumonia and the genetics of twins because of the barbaric way the Jews were used like guinea pigs by the sick doctors (Dr.Death being the main culprit)

How would raising people with a strict catholic background stop corruption in the government? Considering how corrupt the Catholic church is a whole it's not a good example at all of preventing corruption.

And ye, how does talks of abortion and gay rights have anything to do with the recession? Noticed the entire world is in an economic recession?

Basic respect, fairness and common sense, combined with a lack of greed, is all that is required.......and I'd agree with you on that list; all of the above are sadly lacking in far too many people.

But accountability is also required, and the catholic church as an organisation doesn't do accountability.

I think that you are quite mad.
The Catholic Church is a primary source for a lot of the problems in the country and the main reason why the country is in the state that it is.

Religion is immoral and the sooner that people live their lives for the 'day' and not spend 70 or 80 years trying to appease a mythological figure in order to achieve immortality, the better.

Also, if more people went to mass on a Sunday, with the donations they would give to the collection plate they'd be less likely to spend that money on drugs. Also we could start to use collection money to start pulling this country out of recession.
