What do you mean by sharpness? You want to be faster, stronger etc.? If it's only now you're getting into speed or strength work, it's not going to provide you with much benefit before the season starts. You'll have needed a decent 12 week prep period. Anyway, better late than never so define sharpness and we'll have a look.

I have been training since jan but i just feel i could be a bit faster to ball and turning etc, should i just do some short sprints for the next few weeks?

shuttle sprints wouldm't go astray. for turning and acceleration.

but practice some basic skills on your own as well. kicking, catching, high fielding.
    warm up
find a big wall and kick a ball against it for 10 mins
    do some shuttle sprints
    practice skills with ball again
    more shuttle sprints
    cool down

Probably not. What you really needed was a decent base of strength in order to get fast in the first place. Sprints are specific to the sport and yes there will some carryover if you do them but what I'd suggest is you get in the gym and start doing squat variations and deadlifts. You can combine this with sprinting but once you establish a base level of strength your speed and change of direction will greatly benefit. You'll probably be getting enough game specific sprinting in training and time would be better spent in the gym.
