This is a thread for all you beer drinkers out there. Just curious would you have a few beers during the week? Or would you strictly hold off until the weekend?!
Personally i would buy a Slab of beer every wkend & whatever id have left over if any id have a few wednes thurs. I wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic but when the cold beer (Carlesberg in my case) hits the back of the throat, theirs nothing nicer when your in the mood obviously :)

I'll have a few beers whenever I feel like it. Sometimes there's nothing like coming home after work (or whatever you get up to) and chilling with a few frosty beverages.

I'm a student, not drinking is an event.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Very rarely do I drink anyway, but it doesn't really matter what day of the week it is with regards to drinking.
As long as I don't go overboard, it doesn't matter.

Yes, the odd one. But I tend to drink only at the weekends.
I feel 'weird' drinking on me tod.

Not enough to beat the wife midweek as we need both incomes to pay the mortgage.

I very very rarely drink alcohol. Im a bit of a tee-totaller.

The odd friday or saturday & thats about it really. Well if its a bank holiday i will drink friday & saturday & sometimes on sunday as well.
During the summer i would have a few beers on wednesday as well as the weekend & if i head off down the coast for a spin i might have a pint & perhaps a few more if someone else can drive
During the winter i'd have a few pints on tuesday & thursday & the weekend as well & if im hungover i might have a few on sunday afternoon just to keep me going.

Basically if the weather is nice i'l drink 4/5 pints & a few cans 4 days a week & if the weather is bad that might go up to 5 or 6 days a week but no i wouldn't drink much at all.

No. Used to on Thursday night the very odd time, though. Now, no, as I drive in the morning. At the weekend, sometimes nothing, sometimes a litre of Southern Comfort on Friday night, another on Saturday night, a few on Sunday, but usually only when I'm away in Belfast/Waterford/Finglas/etc.

It's giving me The Goo as well but I'm up early.

    Maybe one...

  • Yeah, I usually do have a few drinks during the week. Don't understand what the problem is. I'd generally drink 2-3 drinks at a time, a few days a week rather than going on some mad binge at the weekend.

Tbh, I have a drink most evenings. We always have people calling over where a bottle of wine will be produced or call over to someone elses house for something similar. Not just calling over to get pissed, but it's a kind of rural thing that happens where I live.

There's also the thing where you give a neighbour a hand with something and then pop over for a few pints to discuss the weeks events.

And then there are also the evening after a hard days work where you want to hit the couch and have a drink and relax.

Honestly, I'm talking 5/6 nights a week. As long as you still feel tip top in the mornings and your brain is functioning well then what the hey!

    For men:

No more than 3-4 units per day and no more than 21 units in a week, with at least 2 alcohol-free days each week is the advice.

How many boards users observe the limits would be a good poll to try.

    A quick guide

A pint (568ml) of normal strength lager (4% abv) 2.2 units
    A 500ml can of cider (5.3% abv) 2.7 units
A 330ml bottle of medium strength lager (5% abv) 1.7 units
    A 70cl bottle of gin (40% abv) 28 units
    A large (250ml) glass of wine (12.5% abv)3.1 units
A 75cl bottle of tonic wine (15% abv) 11.25 units

So if your drinking more than the limit week in week out, you will have problems in later life and I am sure some people will be surprised

Trouble is society here conisders it an achievement to out do this limit every weekend especially and yet people still complain about it but won't change their drinking habits, so the yet the problem continues.

The question is why do Irish people usually feel the need to drink alcohol probably most days of the week?
    Social norm I'm guessing

I would also have a few beers lost nights. Usually nothing major, a few bottles etc. But if there was something on or had a friend over or whatver I'd have no problem having a major session during the week, wouldn't happen too often bit feck it, roll into work the next day with a large coffee and it's all grand.

Nothing like a cold beer after a day of work. I especially love (if/when) we've long warm summer evenings sitting outside a beer or three.

Am thoroughly enjoying some lovely beers in Texas right now. 30degrees and lovely beers 7pm. This is the life :-)

Pffft I know the risks and to be honest I don't care enough to let it stop me. It's not about being social norm. I just tricking enjoy it. I don't smoke cos I hate the taste/smell etc. I reckon alcohol in general is probably less hazourdas than cigarettes but could be wrong.

Within reason I drink when I want. End of story really and I can and often do go weeks without drinking. I don't need people spouting the health risks or stats to me. I know them all and I don't particularly care

A couple some nights during the week, and normally go out somewhere on one of the nights over the weekend.

I wouldn't say I drink much, but i enjoy it when I do!

Fair enough but didn't say to stop drinking alcohol but based on your logic every else knows about the risks yet get pissed off if anyone mentions there is binge drinking problem in Ireland.

shayno90, why do people need to analyse the f*ck out of everything. If it's not a problem, and you or someone else will usually know when it is, then who cares, whatever makes you happy.

stats like that are just that, statistics released by a 'study'.
Different people differ, of course if you're gonna sit around in your boxers drinking cheap beer and getting ratty and losing direction it's a problem.

But if it's just a small part of a fulfilling life, and you aren't hurting anybody else, then it is no one elses business

It is time to elect a world leader, and your vote counts.
Here's the scoop on the three leading candidates:

Candidate A consults with astrologists. He's had two mistresses. He chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of brandy every evening.

Candidate C is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and hasn't had any illicit affairs.

Which of these candidates is your choice??

    scroll down

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt
    Candidate B is Winston Churchill
    Candidate C is Adolph Hitler

Where did it say to stop drinking? If read it properly it states what is a unit of alcohol and how much is in a typical pint etc.

Those aren't stats those are measurements for alcohol, statistics are numbers used to some correlation between different variables, just making it clear for you.
