E-Trust AntiVirus Removal??

    Hi all,

    When I got my laptop there was an antivirus software on it called E-Trust. It is now out of date and i want to remove it from my laptop and put Norton on instead. When i go to the usual Add/Remove Programs to try get rid of it, a box pops up and says "Please wait while windows configures" and my computer freezes, I cant even use the curser and eventually have to switch it off at the mains. This is really frustrating me and I tried for hours last night to remove it and nothing seems to work, I wouldnt be the best at this kinda stuff, im fairly basic so Im just wondering does anyone have any easy to follow advice/steps on what i should do? I googled it and apparantely it seems to happen a lot with this particular software. Help! :)

    Have you tried to disable the anti virus prior to using the uninstall feature?

    There is some suggestions here.

    I would recommend avast over norton.

    Download and install Revo Uninstaller
    • Double click the Revo Uninstaller icon on your desktop to start the program
    • Scroll through the listed programs and Right Click on the program you wish to uninstall
    • From the pop out menu choose Uninstall
    • Click Yes to the confirmation dialogue
    • In the next window select the Advanced mode
    • Click Next to start uninstalling the program
    • Answer Yes to confirm the uninstall
    • When the program has completed the four steps, click Next to allow the program to search for leftovers
    • Once complete, click Next, then Finish
    • Repeat the above steps for any other programs you wish to remove.

    Thanks for the advice guys! My friend just had a look at it and has sorted it within 5 mins, he just used the Add/Remove Program and it worked straight away, so frustrating as I spent hours last nite trying! :confused:
