    Hi all

Just wondering if anyone exercises at home and does it work?
I used to have one of those mini steppers years ago and found it very good but now im thinking will I be disciplined enough to use it every evening!! I dont have much room for big equipment or does anyone know anything about those fold up treadmills? Are they any good?
Then Im thinking about joining a gym but the thought of it fills me with dread having to go back again, the only thing I loved there was the treadmill, walking/running on it and a few weights when I felt like doing them!! Is this enough to do at the gym as I really dont like much else,
would an hour on the treadmill be enough to do to loose weight? (I'm sick going out walking and i cant jog much on the roads without getting out of breath!!)
I just keep making excuses every evening and my clothes are getting tighter by the day!!:mad: any help would be appreciated!!

You absolutely can get fit at home without any major equipment. Body weight squats, push ups, bulgarian split squats, planks, side planks, HIIT etc. If you want to train at home I HIGHLY recommend you buy one of these:

A little bit expensive at the beginning but well worth the investment. I always take one with me on my travels and it more than makes up for not being able to find/get to a gym. Adds a lot of extra stuff to the above list like inverted rows, single leg squats, more core options etc. Combine this with 10 mins of interval training (gradually building up 12, 15 etc.) and you've a pretty good out-of-gym workout.

As for an hour on the treadmill being enough? Depends on what you caloric intake is like. Post up the diet.

It's not the amount of time you spend on the treadmill but the distance you run on it. 2 miles in 1 hour will burn about the same as 2 miles in 15 minutes.

    thanks j-fit for your post.
My diet at the moment is really bad so I wont be posting it for now but its obviously my own fault im putting on weight but when and if I join the gym, I am very good then with healthy food. Its just I love my food and I wish I didnt have to exercise, if I was slim, I would eat nothing but junk all day long!!!! lol
Maybe liposuction is next on my list!!
Will have a look at the site you posted now. thank you .

how about walking on a beach, park or wooded area before building up to jogging, nice alternative to road walking/jogging. combine this with push up's, sit up's etc, for a cheap, easy regime

thank you but Im so sick of the park aswell, I have done that for years now and Im just sick walking in it. I have lost a good bit of weight in the past but now if I dont do something soon, I will end up putting it all back on again.
Its either the gym or get something to do at home I think!!:mad::mad:

that's fair enough, I personally just find the gym so mind-numbing that I just love getting out anywhere else. different strokes though I suppose.

I think a lot of people don't realise that. What I do is start off every time on the treadmill for 15 minutes and every week or so I up the speed. When I first started I could only manage 9.5kmph for 15 mins now I've worked up to 14kmph. So you could try something similar for 10 mins starting of at a slower speed. After that do some weights and then to finish of a session you could try rowing 1000 meters and see if you can beat your time each week! :D

It makes it a bit of fun, you can do the same on the bikes or cross trainers. Get an MP3 player and but some good tunes on it :)

Try out some of these, free to do and opens up a whole world of exercises you can do away from the gym without having to purchase bulky expensive equipment.

I'll second this, great piece of kit. You can get a pretty good workout on this no matter what your level of fitness.

    Thats great to hear!

Always try to push yourself a little bit more each time and keep a log of your times. It will encourage you to do better each time and its always good to look back and see how you've improve over the weeks.

    Best of luck! :)
