Following on from this thread on Eircomn implementing their "3 strike rule" and cutting people off because of suspicious behavior, i was wondering which ISP the majority of people on boards use, and if they plan on switching.

Mods, i was hoping to keep this in AH and not in broadband because it will get more views here.

I'm with BT/ Vodafone after I got sick of eircoms overcharging for shit broadband. I love for UPC to be in my area, had it during the year in Galway, was great stuff altogether!

What about that wireless one, freewire, or liveline or something, I just can't think of the name but a friend out in the sticks has it, 1mb but it's always at 1mb and has very low contention and ping times.

Stuck with the carnage that is Vodafone at the moment, and am looking at the other options. Vodafone should have stuck to mobiles, because they don't seem to have a clue about anything else, and there was never a problem before BT transferred its customers to that shower.

    I'm with Telecom NZ.
Average speed to don't throttle your speed as quick as the others when you reach your monthly low cap of 20G.
Moving house next week. Vodafone NZ in that place. Those bastards throttle as soon as... Grrrrr.

That happens every 6 months or so for a small few weeks, it's just them working on the lines TBH.

I could never complain about UPC, it's perfect TBH, very little downtime, fast connection, cheap price and no three-strike-rule.

Meteor piece of ****ty **** mobile 56k. I mean mobile 'broadband'. I hate it with a passion. I have almost thrown it out the window in frustration on several occasions.

Live smack in the middle of the city centre but can't get UPC in my building. Can get tv from them alright, just no broadband. Have rang them multiple times over a year and it's always 'yeah, we'll have it there soon'. Soon me arse.

Switched from eircom to Magnets "up to" 24Mb service about a month ago. No issues so far and consistently getting 18/20Mb speeds!
On another point. eircom are quick to tell you if your account is in arrears but there's been no sign so far of the €300+ that my acct was in credit when I switched!!

Vodafone - I used to be eircom - switched to save a bit of money, totally worth it. Only wish I had got rid of eircom long ago, would've saved me a bob or two.

    BT/vodafone
Been paying Eircom for the last couple of years for 8meg BB and only discovered recently (while complaining about the appalling service) that my line is only capable of 5meg.
In the process of examining my options to change at the moment - UPC is looking really good from where I'm standing.......

With UPC and thankfully have only had one problem with them one night, that was sorted out the next morning:)

Major poll fail - whilst I'm sure it would be difficult for anyone to find a comprehensive list of ISPs in Ireland, there should at least be an option for "Other, please specify".

My ISP is the ironically named, Fastcom.
