Do you hear things, like schizophrenics, when smoking cannabis? I've been told you see things that aren't there.

I did one time, in Amsterdam. I put my hand in my head and then thought there were bugs all over my hand (there weren't).

It's weird though because it shouldn't be hallucinagenic.

I was a heavy enough smoker also once upon a time so wasn't larrylightweightness.

Have never heard sounds that aren't there. However sometimes music, etc can take on an extra quality.

Have never had halucinations, however sometimes it's possible to find designs in otherwise normal objects. I remember someone who thought they could see a face in the shadows of a blanket on a chair :pac: too funny.

I've never had hallucinations, but things can look and sound a bit abnormal. I actually think I perceive things more distinctly when smoking.

For instance, my mate has full-on surround sound (ie speakers behind you as well). When I sober, I don't really notice, if I'm high I can tell where the different sounds are coming from much more clearly.

Even things like watching a football match, I can actually pick out plays and openings better when I've smoked.

Now I should note I generally smoke like I drink - a bit to maintain a nice buzz, not to get wasted.

The first time I ate it I imagined that my brain had come loose and was rolling around inside my skull. It wasn't scary though. Since that, no.

I met a girl who ate hash cakes, she had a terrible night full of hallucinations. Her parents didn't know wtf was wrong with her.

I've had aural hallucinations, I hear music and whispers sometimes, in the same way you get when you're just about to fall asleep and you're half dreaming. Spent a lot of time trying to transcribe the music but generally the instruments don't exist :)

I've never had hallucinations from it.

A guy I know did have a very bad reaction to it the only time he smoked it, went white as a sheet and said he was hearing ****, said a tree stump was talking to him. This wasn't bad / laced weed either as I and another guy had split it with him, and we experienced nothing abnormal.

If the weed was laced with other stuff, hallucinations are possible.

Never heard anything that's not there but I do seem to get super hearing.

I moved house recently and spent ages messing with settings of my speakers thinking there was something wrong with it as it didn't sound right. Conflusterd I sat down and had a spliff, stuck on some music and soon found the problem had been fixed.

Any mind altering substance has the potential to do those things. It's down to the individual as to whether or not they experience it. Some people get very anxious after smoking cannabis, only a small minority.. but it happens.

What makes them like that isn't exclusively down to the drug, but to do with their own minds and imaginations.

Not elaborate at all . Smoke enough dope and you will hear voices.

    Dope doesn't make you deaf.

    Dear Jaaaaaaaaaysus, I hear ya.

I took one of those before when my sister put her back out, didn't have a valium style affect as I'd hoped (it's not an opiate so no wonder). Instead my brain decided to try and attack me and not let me sleep. There was fire, mangled babies, shadows standing over me .... *shudder*

Next day I said it to my sister and she'd been seeing burning faces and kept seeing someone hiding behind her wardrobe peering around at her.

    Horrendous stuff

Weed's never made me see or hear anything though

Anyone that has smoked enough dope will probably have thrown a "whitener" at some stage or other . Too much skunk used to blow my brain.

One of my mates is still convinced that he was abducted by aliens when driving his motorbike home one night after a particularly heavy session on the ould bong.

Unfortunately, despite ensuring to wear my best Austin Powers chick "threads" for the ritual, I have yet to have that experience of finding myself in a flying psychedelic bus surrounded by the Beatles in their Sergeant Pepper gear and some dude with a zither, while smoke spells out "peace" and "love" in the multi-coloured sky... :(

no you dont hear voices. As a previous poster said some people do get anxious but it usally fades after about 15 minutes the worst thing to happen me while smoking a j was burning my finger alas there is no demand for hash anymore because its crap (unless in holland it will knock your socks off) so i have nothing more to worry about :D:D

Lonely stoners are renowned for turning severe paranoid psychotic episodes into cash later in life through massive advertising campaigns.

Don't tell me this advert or comparethemeercat.com weren't conceived without the involvement of some severe cannabis use early in life!!!!

Nope. Not even an inkling of paranoia.

However, I did have a friend (and housemate) who had a whitener during one session, and he left the sitting room and locked himself into his bedroom. He never talked to us for about 2 weeks and then moved out. He since hasn't talked to myself or my other (then) housemate since then. I found out from some mutual friends a few months after this happened and apparently he thought we tried to poison him with nicotine. He is 100% convinced that we tried to poison him as a joke and theres no telling him otherwise.

After knowing and being friends with the guy for over 3 years until this point, I would have to put this down to being one of those rare occurences where smoking weed can actually be bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,224 ✭✭✭✭Marty McFly

Nope you dont, now i did used to get paranoia sometimes as id walk home from my mates but it was a paranoia inducing walk withotu the hash to which just heightened it, i would be well twithchy alking home though. well unless weed ha got a lot stronger these days havent really smoked it in bout 5 years apart from two trips to amsterdam:D.

now mushrooms are one hell of a drug you see some freaky stuff and spend most the day laughing at crap. One of the few drugs id gladly take well when im sober anyway.

Thats a tingling sensation, and its meant to happen - it means youre smoking good stuff. Not that typical crap you find in Ireland. Bugs would be one way to describe it. I consider it a buzz, like most people; almost electric. But not at all painful. Quite comfortable actually.

I have never seen anything I wouldnt otherwise see if I were sober. ie. People with Halogen Headlamps with that blue tint? Yeah you'll think its the cops for half a second. But you do that sober too.

No, you dont really see anything extraordinary that isnt there.

Paranoia comes strictly from the fact that you're smoking something illegal. If youre a secure person youll never get paranoid.

It does affect your rationale and thought-process; particularly in conversation and music, you find yourself spending a lot more time over-analyzing the semantics of things said in a conversation (and you'll interpret double-meanings from just about everything that you hear); the meaning behind musical lyrics, respond more emotively to the music itself, etc.

Agree with the rest of your post but I don't think its just down to the illegality. Normally I'm fine with it but sometimes i'd start worrying about something innocuous being a terrible situation. Usually would realise after a few min "oh yes, that would be the cannabis"
Then thinking about it the next day wouldn't have a clue how I was worried abotu such a thing.

By secure do you mean mentally or secure surroundings? Mentally I think most people are insecure to some extent. Off top of my head can only think of one person I know who isn't.

I go to Amsterdam and experienced absolutely no paranoia. The only paranoia I get is when I smoke is at home and it's all about someone uncool walking in and making a scene.

Well here I only smoke it in houses where that won't happen. Occasional paranoia is quite common amongst people I've spoken to in real life who smoke

Hehe, No, I saw the bugs in my hand. I actually went to throw them away and hit some randomer on the arm. Like I said, I've smoked many the strong joint but this was a one time experience.
