Bizarre but interesting facts

This is in response to someone saying that Irish womans shape has changed in the past 20 years.

Interesting fact....if your ancestors were poor and suffered from malnutrition, then you will end up with a body shape that consists of a long back and short legs i.e your legs and back will be out of proportion to each other.....this persists down the generations so even if the past 3 generations of your ancestors were well fed that body shape would still be in you family!

so anyone else for a bizarre but interesting fact!

More of an urban myth, but apparently the ten golden circle members will never be found until an endoscopy is done on Mary Harney.

Yes, people post rubbish on the internet claiming it to be an interesting fact.

Oh if only somebody would invent a computer that would fit on my lap, and internet that can travel wirelessly to my garden. Or if not a computer they should find a way to get the internet on my mobile phone. There's money to be made from those ideas.

We probably all know the problem of trying to fold a piece of paper more than 8 times, very hard to do, some say impossible (I think Mythbusters got 9 though). But just say hypothetically you could fold a standard piece of paper over and over again, lets say you folded it 100 times.
    How thick would it be?

Gut bacteria in your stomach can alter neuropeptides in your brain to make you desire food that the bacteria prefers. You think you want that cake or do your gut critters want that cake?

I can't find a source on this but I read it in a book so it MUST be true:

Americans consume on average 9lb of fecal matter each year in food. :P

The guy who did the voice of Bugs Bunny was allergic to carrots

If you multiply 111,111,111 by itself, you get 12,345,678,987,654,321

The word 'Armageddon' comes for the belief that the final battle between good and evil will take place in a place called 'Mar Megiddo'. And even though there has never been a place with that name, there is a mountain called Mount Megiddo, beside which an ancient civilisation used to live.

I'd say there's about 10% of that sentence missing also :pac:.

Well known brands of medication (eg headache tablets, antihistamines) are more effective than cheaper, less known names even if both contain exactly the same ingredients. This is due to the same psychological processes that cause the placebo effect, so it does pay to spend a little more.
