Whats your plan for watching the finale?

Theres alot of options open to people regarding the finale- watch it 'live' at 5am Monday with some breakfast, record it for later, watch it on RTE, so what will everyone be doing? and more importantly how, where and with who will you be doing it with? Anyone throwing 'Lost' parties? Me, I'm gonna take over our whole front living room, record it on RTE with Sky + and start watching about 15 mins in, draw the curtains, turn off the lights, crank up the volume, stock up on a few drinks and crisps Monday, and just (forgive the pun) get 'lost' for the final epic 2 hours.

Gonna get up at 5 and watch it. Why wait till Thursday and record it on RTE when you could record it on Sun on Sky 1?

Was gonna "contact the cousins in America" until I heard sky+ were showing it at 5am. So i'm gonna Sky+ that instead, in case my "cousins" decided to spoil the whole thing in some sort of manipulative surprise harry potter ninja fashion.

Probably gonna watch it monday morn round 11 or 12 with a few of "the lads" on the big-ass bravia with the home cinema system turned on :) and hopefully thoroughly enjoy this epic event without anything going wrong!

Was thinking about waiting up til 5am as I normally wait up for the episodes, but I think i'm gonna have to be fully awake to avoid the risk of dozing off mid-way through it, which will be a bit of a buzzkill, nothing worse than half watching something, forgetting it, waking up at inappropriate part, and then having a balls made of the thing.

That's my well-thought out plan! As long as I keep me distance from the interwebs Sunday night & monday morning, it should work out well!

    Lost = serious business :)

Thursday? Mate it's on Monday night on RTE now. :)

As I said on the other thread my choices are:

    - Watch it on Sky One 'live', but with lots of ads, with it being daylight and with me being tired.

    - Record it on Sky and then watch it Monday evening, fast-forwarding through the ads.

    - Wait for it on RTE, Monday night, and deal with the ads, though at least it's at night.

I honestly can't make my mind up as there are pros and cons to everything. I'm leaning towards just watching it on Sky and putting up with the ads but that may change.

Alarm clock at 4.30 AM (or maybe just stay awake, haven't really decided yet). Stumble downstairs, prepare a glass of milk and a packet of oreos. Watch Lost. Try not to fall asleep. Onto boards at 7.30AM to bitch and/or moan and/or praise (probably all three). Sleep.

Sky+ it and watch it the moment I wake up Monday morning. I considered watching it live at first but I took into account a) the shítload of ads, and b) I don't want to be overly tired or cranky to appreciate the ending if it's any good.

I'm going to wait for the download and watch it ad-free - hopefully in 720p. This the finale, I'm not having it interrupted by stupid ads (or having to forward through them) every 7/8 minutes. I should still be finished watching it by the time Sky is over.

Ditto. RSS feed setup, should be ready and waiting in XBMC the second I wake up! :pac:

I reckon Sky+ and get up around 6am Monday to start watching. Should be done by around 7.10-7.15am.

Hoping to watch it as close to the East Coast 2am start time as possible.

Wake up around 4.30 and start downloading it. Go back to sleep until around 9am.. Wake up and watch it then. I'll be working from home so it'll be handy as.

    Gonna Sky+ it Monday morning.
Go do my final ever college exam.
Wear headphones with blaring music all day, and engage in complete media blackout.
Come home, close curtains, turn off phone, and watch the finale.
Then I'm gonna log on to boards and try and wade through the finale thread which will probably be over 500 posts long by then.

I really hope I don't get banned for this kinda question, would be terrible timing but how will people be downloading it at 4:30 etc when it's been shown live at 5am?

Not asking where or how, just wondering if there actually will be downloads available during the simulcast

Around what time will it be available to download? I think it will be about 4.30am when it's finished, so might be around 5am it's available?

    Just a few questions,

1.a few have said watch it live at 5:00 am, but i taught it was on at 8/9 central in the states, 1:00 am/2:00 am here, how is it live?

    2. i wonder do RTE realise its 2 and 1/2 episodes as opposed to 2, that means they wont have any time for adverts in there 2 hr slot, and whats this talk of 40 mins of adverts on sky? i would of taught 20-25 mins would be right?

    am i totally wrong?

There's 20 mins of ad in a normal 1 hour show on sky one. If the show is 2 and a half times as long, i'd except there to be 40-50 minutes of adverts easily.

    1. By 'live', people mean 'as it is being broadcast on Sky', as opposed to recording it and then watching it later, or watching it about 40 mins after the 'live' broadcast has started so they can fast-forward through the ads.

    2. The Sky broadcast is a simulcast, which means it is being broadcasted at the same time as the west coast in America, the implication is that for the broadcasts to remain 'simultaneous' there will have to be the same amount of ads, and American networks are notorious for the amount of ads they show.

As for RTE, the show will probably run over the two hours they have it scheduled for, which is not unheard of for RTE.

Alright, everyone seems to be confused by this. The finale starts at 2am our time on the east coast. And then it starts at 5 am on the west coast. Sky are only airing it simultaneous with the west coast.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

Watching shows in America is torture, there aint no way that I'm watching the live feed... I like the download idea, as thats what Ive been at so far - undecided on weather to watch in the evening with some four star and a few cans, or in the morning without it.

The fact that I'm bound to hear something if I wait is influencing my judgement too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,746 ✭✭✭Drag00n79

I intend to download the east coast boadcast as soon as I can. So I should be able to watch it from about 5am or so - without ads.

Thank you. I was confused. Debate over for me so.. Ads or no Ads? It's an easy choice!

I'd get up and watch it on Sky, but I've a huge exam at 9.30 and I can't take the risk. Instead, I'm going to obtain it while I'm at my exam, and watch it in all its glory the minute I get home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,206 ✭✭✭gustavo

Previously was gonna watch it via HDMI cable from laptop to tv screen on Monday evening but now gonna watch it on RTE2 for the first time this season since the premier

So Americans on the West coast actually have to avoid spoilers to an extent?

Get up at 8, dl it at 720p then watch it monday night on the laptop in bed with the gf,

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

get up at 6am, download it (not in 720p, that'll take too long to dl, just regular TV quality :D), watch it, debate about it on boards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,683 ✭✭✭DeepBlue

    1. Watch latest episode of Breaking Bad.
    2. Then watch Lost finale..........:pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭podgemonster

Currently altering my sleeping plan so that I will be wide awake for 5am. Plan consists of sleeping for the majority of the weekend from Friday.

Will be munching on Frosties and toast for the duration. During ads will probably have a single race of Mario Kart to keep me alert.

This will be the first time this season i will be watching a Lost episode on TV after never having viewed it previously online.

Yeah. I think many of them download it anyway because they aren't able to wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,748 ✭✭✭tony1kenobi

I think if it's available I'll download the whole lot...the recap, finale then whatever it is Jimmy Kimmel is doing.....I'm working Monday so I'll have to bring the crossbow to work so people know to keep their mouths shut ( I'd normally just bring a bowie but I really don't want anyone to be mistaken)....then stick it on Monday night and watch the whole lot while getting completely sh*tfaced.......then coming on here crying and hoping some of you lot are still up so you can explain what I've just seen........

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,752 ✭✭✭pablomakaveli

I'll Sky+ it when its shown early on monday morning and watch it when i wake up while im eating my breakfast. If their showing it as is in America i imagine there will be loads of ad breaks but at least i can fast forward through those.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Was gonna stay up and watch it on Sky, but I imagine I'll be knackered by then, as I'm working tomorrow night, so I'm gonna Sky+ and watch it on Monday morning with some Coco Pops and a bottle of Jack Daniels... Avoid the interweb from Sunday night onwards, until I've seen it, considering I've managed to avoid all spoilers this year and it would be crap to have it ruined on me for the last episode...

download it on monday morning when I get up.

    no adds and HD.

    perfect;)

Going to watch it on tv for the first time ever, going to sky+ it at 5, get up around 8 and watch with a huge bowl of coco pops while forwarding through the ads. Then go online and get it from "Uncle Hugh" to finish off my collection, then wait for the blu-ray box set to drop to an affordable price and buy the lot and watch it all again in HD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,379 ✭✭✭thebigcheese22

Going to watch it in college (UCC) in the morning at half 8 in HD with other mates...should be epic! :D Just hope I don't sleep through it!

Dl the 720p that morning. CD's all day at work, wouldn't trust the radio. No phone either, then get straight home, order pizza and throw it on. Nice!!

I have to be in work at about 10.30am tomorrow morning. I'm considering getting up way earlier than necessary to watch it before work... but I might just wait until I get home. I'm definitely leaning towards getting up early. A total media blackout for the day would be so hard to do, and I really don't want to have anything spoiled for me.

So what time(our time) will America broadcast the earliest showing?
