I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but...
What do you reckon are the better looking of the estate cars on the market at the moment...

The 159 Estate is the sex.

The Insignia Sports Tourer looks well in the right colour.

The Superb Combi is great value and in comparison to the Saloon/Hatch version is fantastic looking.

The Volvo 740 Estate is the Daddy!

    Accord Tourer isn't bad.

    2009_Euro_Accord_Tourer_Profile.jpg

    Previous model Tourer was manky.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,857 ✭✭✭langdang

Accord Tourer if the Alfa 159 is not your thing!
RS6 if you had the bucks, Saab 9-3 very nice

JHMEG - you're right - the new accord is in a different league to the previous space-hearse-from-the-future styling
knifiespoony also correct - the avensis estate is way nicer than the saloon.

Maybe I just have a "thing" for estates...

Savage in black... had to be forcibly prevented from renting one of these when I was in Italy last. The fact that it was 6 times more expensive than what we actually needed wasn't enough to put me off...

Another vote for the Audi A4 S Line Avant.
Most generations of the Audi avant were nice. In fact I would prefer an avant to a saloon.

I interestingly liked the alfa estate pictured at the start, the a4 advant looks the sex and I'd probably sway towards one if I was buying an estate with that sort of mulla. The bmw touring looks nice and agressive too. The superb is just that .

So to summarise my order of prefernce of those estates:

    1. A4 advant
    2. Skoda superb
    3. Afla estate (not sure the model of the one pictured?)
    4. Bmw touring

audis are nice.. very nice.. as said above better than the salon

dont like the bmw estates, something not right about them

what about the mazda 6 estate.. i think she looks sweet

Love the 159 estate. Seems to me that car designers only need three windows along the side of the car. Any more looks like a design flaw.

IMO you need to have an estate well specced for it to look good. I have an E46 M-sport touring, which I think looks fantastic but I wouldn't be a fan of a basic spec E46 touring.

The new Accord estate looks good to me but the new superb estate looks oddly proportioned to me. Of course, "good looking" is very subjective so look at as many as you can until you find one you like

Funny just today a Sline A4 Avant drove by me and I pondered that I probably would get one over the saloon.. not for practicality or sensibility, it just flat out looks better. Its like a more expensive, better finished version of the saloon.

The C5 Estate looks well too. Still dont think the Jap cars are quite there (exception for the Accord estate!) in estate form as yet, but Id have to agree the Avensis Estate looks better than the Saloon, which is pure muck.

I have to agree with most things already posted, estate cars really are better looking than their salon/hatch version.
A4, 3 series, 159, superb, accord, a6/rs6, mazda 6, insignia and even the avensis estate look much cooler in estate form.

An Audi RS4 avant in white with matt black 19"s is on my lotto win list.

    mine....:D

Taking the performance ones out of the picture, I'd have to say my favourite looking estates at the moment are the 159, A6 & C5.

Almost bought the 159 sw last year but the raised boot lip ruled it out for me. Not a proper flat loading boot which I think all estates have to have as a minimum.

Thankfully. The front of the 159 is very nice indeed (as is the tail end of the saloon).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,220 ✭✭✭✭Lex Luthor

The 159 estate though, good as it looks in standard spec, looks 10 times better in Ti spec. If I had to buy one, it would only be in Ti spec...and it would be the 2.4JTDm 210bhp one

Out of interest do people prefer estates with roof bars fitted or not? Personally I like them - give the cars a more purposeful and streamlined look in my opinion.

For some reason I am forever confusing the Audi A4 Avant without roof bars with the A3 Hatchback.
