    Hi guys,

Ok the situation is this - I have about 7 weeks to get toned up before I see my girlfriend next. I know I won't probably be able to achieve anything great but I was just wondering if ye could give me some advice as to what routine I could be doing to tone up my abs and arms?

Background - I'm 23, 6ft and about 11 and a quarter stone. I'm fairly fit cardio wise but want to just tone up as much as I can.

The Major Problem: I'm currently abroad doing a research project so I don't have access to a gym so any exercises ye could advise would have to take this into account!

    Thanks in advance :D

Read the diet sticky and eat right.

You're lucky you're a guy. That means you will see more improvement than a girl working at the same intensity.

Cut out the junk food and white carbs, make sure you are getting plenty of quality protein, healthy fats and green vegetables. Drink lots of water and green tea, go to bed early.

To force your muscles to change, you've got to work them hard. In a gym, that means lifting a weight that's heavier than is comfortable. Most people self-select a weight that is 60% of their capacity. Ideally, you should be lifting 80%.

At home, you can't vary the weight so easily, so you'll have to vary the exercises. Do bodyweight pull-ups, press-ups, dips, squats, plank, V-ups, lunges, step-ups. If anything starts feeling easy (if you are not struggling by about ten reps), then try doing them at a different angle, or with one leg or arm, or with some added weight (books or water bottles in a backpack or duffel bag).

I'm very similar to you, 5'10 and 11.5 stone. Before I used to go to the gym I started out doing push ups, sit ups, and chin ups. I filled two old bags up with bricks (anything heavy) and used them as dumbells. there's a ton of exercises you can do with them, just search for dumbell exercises. Go running not jogging, not really sure what else you can do with the legs?

You can do dumbell squats with your home made dumbells :D

With hard work you will see a difference in 7 weeks, good luck

If you are willing to work hard you should even see decent results within a month.

Not saying you be unreal toned but you should see difference.

If you eat right thats most important thing then with the excerises you will gain good results.

    Hi guys,

Just wanted to thank ye for the advice.I've been at it 3 weeks now and have already started to see a difference in my abs especially. Currently doing 130 situps and 70 push-ups a day. Should I be aiming for more?

    Cheers

Looks like you're just working on your upper body so I'd try to get some chin ups in there. If you do 70 chin ups a day as well you'll be doing good.

Do more push ups, no cheating! ;)

If you start right now and are 100% consistent for the 7 weeks with diet, cardio and even weights etc, you will see great results.
