Last I heard it was closing because the company who is supposedly buying JS premises is not picking up Greystones.

This could be utter nonsense though.

So there will be a increase in numbers at ShoreLine I guess?

Yep, but if JS does close then there is going to be a huge influx of new members.

I'm pretty sure shoreline has a membership cap, to allow continued PAYG usage.

    Folks,

With all this talk of JS going bust would it be stupid signing up now for membershiP with them?

Trust me, its never a good idea to sign up with them. Expensive and not a squat rack in sight. Where are you? Someone on her could probably reccomend you a decent alternative.

Billyhead, sign up and pay monthly so there's no risk. JSF have a bad rep and a lot of people on here will tell you not to join cos there's no squat rack etc but if you're a relative beginner, it's grand for your needs IMO.

I'd have to disagree, as a former JS member. Why pay over the odds for a gym that's not going to have the proper equipment? You have to sign a year contract, you'll outgrow JS a lot sooner than that.

I understand your point, but they are not going to be around for a year so the contract is void.

I agree that all gyms should have squat racks, it is possible to get a good workout without one albeit with some good advice.
Chins, DB squats, split squats, Lunges, DB Bench etc. etc.
I think its 49 a month at present, so not bad if its close by.

Just making the point, that training in JSF is better than not training at all!

I take it the word on the street is that JS Greystones is closed, closing or open. Same as I heard. I drove down yesterday to have a look at the club.
The size isn't too bad, I got a 6 month membership in Glenview in January and am looking around for something else. Just want to make sure I don't throw my money away.
