    Hi,

I need to address my flexibility "situation" pretty rapidly, Years of football and sumo deadlifting havent done me any favours.

Hopefully i dont offend any practitioners but im not into any of the yoga ideaology, the meditative side or whatever, I just want to get flexible.

Can anyone reccomend a reasonable priced studio, in either town or bray, that would accomodate a serious beginner and hasnt too much chanting and stuff going on.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

In the centre of town there's the Open Minds Project on Pearse Street. I went a few times and found it a bit sedate, but they have loads of classes and the different teachers have different styles, so you might find one that does a more physical session. They let you pay what ever you feel the class is worth, so I guess that's a plus.

+1 to the yoga rooms; I go there and really like it. A friend of mine goes to the Open Minds studio and raves about it.

There's also Sunrise Yoga in Dun Laoghaire. They usually have a Yoga for Men class on the timetable.

I go to Tara Wellbeing on Meath st, D8. There are a couple of guys in the class I take and it's definitely got more of an emphasis on the physical than the spiritual (it's a bit tough compared to classes I've taken in the past). She does beginners classes too and pilates.

Try Beto's classes at the Open Minds Project, his classes are very physical, and he's not too cautious about encouraging people to try the more advanced stuff.

Re naming your own price at Open Minds for a class, What did those of you who have been give?

Well I'm a student and a bit strapped for cash but I do really enjoy and need the classes so I ALWAYS pay something. Usually a fiver. Sometimes less if its the week before payday or something. A few times I have been the only person in the class, and then I would always give a tenner as its like having a personal class and you get SO much more out of it, the instructor can really help you get your form right and you can even ask to focus on certain things you want to try out or improve. I see a lot of people give a tenner per class, i'm guessing they are working people though, or maybe only go once a week or so.

If you are living in Bray then you could check out the new yoga studio in Greystones, its just on the main street.

My house mate has classes there and enjoys them.

Check out Yoga Dublin in Ranelagh and Dundrum. They have special classes 'for men' with a little more sporty vibe and they have a range of special offers and discounts recently.
