R.I.P Ronnie James Dio, a true legend

A post from the Official Dio website
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May.
Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes
before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he
was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have
all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this
terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. Wendy

Holy shit, what a shock. Just that it looked like he was on the road to recovery.

It's a sad day for rock music.

    RIP Dio.

Gonna keep an eye on this story, but it's wrecking my head the way false deaths are reported, the same happened with Brett Michaels a couple of weeks ago, and he's made practically a full recovery from his stroke/haemorrhage

Now we've lost Dio. In tribute to him I'll be playing "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" and "Mob Rules" at top volume. A sad, sad loss.

I was never a fan of his vocal style but I can appreciate his huge contribution to metal & what an icon he was (and still is). I'm sad for my rock brethren and for Dio's wife & family. Hope they get through it ok :(

I expect a tribute to him at Iron Maiden in July. Was due to be supporting them with Heaven and Hell before the illness got so bad. He will be remembered well.

Thats sad news, I guess most of us will have known he's been suffering with cancer in the last couple of years. A very big small man.

Rather than post Stargazer I think this sums up the "cuddly" side of the man

Wow thats a shock. Dio I listened to Dio a lot back in the day. Classic music.

    R.I.P. Ronnie

Was looking forward to seeing him at Sonisphere Spain.
I too thought he was on the road to recovery and that he just needed more time to recover from the chemo.

    Cancer sucks:(

i svängen lätta i dansens ringar
i stigen yra i nöjets lag
och myrten blommar och lyran klingar
    men över tröskeln stiger jag
    då stannar dansen
    då sänkas ljuden
    då vissnar kransen
    da bleknar bruden...

Another one of metal's stalwarts is gone:(

    RIP

Saw Dio (the band) back in the SFX and at Donington in the mid-late '80's.
Great voice and a great frontman.
No more 'Heaven & Hell' either I presume?
    RIP Ronnie :(

Was just browsing the forum and saw the thread title.

Damn. Was hoping that Dio would beat the big C.

R.I.P Ronnie, think Holy Diver and Mob Rules are about to get aired here to give the little man with the giant voice a blast.
