Doubtful you will see any real loss that way.
Diet is what will affect your weight more
Your better off posting up your diet here and let people suggest ways of altering it.

Then with regards to exercise a good weights programme will be more likely to help reduce weight than a cardio only programme

Depends what you mean by "enough", but really it's not a good way of loosing weight. Doing even a small amount of intense work is better than hours and hours of jogging. The most important thing though would be to sort out your diet.

    EDIT: Yeah what cc87 said.

I was gonna do 2 miles in morning and evening?
Are sit ups actually effective to get flat stomach?

Are you going to run or jog? There's a big difference between the two.

Not really. You can't lose fat from specific parts of your body, it's a whole-body thing. Doing exercises that work large groups of muscles together would be better.

How much weight are you trying to loose??
As i said previously......diet is the key

Read the stickies at the top of the forum.

Countless situps are boring, repetitive and of little value, better off joining a gym and doing the big compound exercises, squats, deadlifts, press-ups, chin-ups etc. Exercises that work the whole body.

If you cant afford to join a gym, there have a number of threads recently on good bodyweight workout regimes.

    2 stone?
Well, 1 stone would be great but 2 stone is the aim

Starting Strength + cleaning up diet = results.

Lifting heavy weights seems scary, but it's worked great for my girlfriend, she's slimmed down while getting a great shape all over.

There's no nice easy girly way to get a hot sexy shapely body - eating right, working hard and sweating like a mofo is the only way to get results.

Good advice but tbh not everyone is capable of starting strength. Some people are just not willing to put hard work in and want results the fastest way possible. :/ Not implying the OP is but from the sounds of 'power walking' and jogging, it sounds a safe bet.

HIIT is your friend OP if you want to lose weight. Yes it is hard. Yes you will feel sick. Yes you will be soaked of sweat, smell and probably no one will want to hug you afterwards...but you will lose weight.

...with a clean diet that is :P

I'd safely assume that if they tried both, most people would find Starting Strength more fun and easier to do than proper HIIT. Just my opinion, but I know it applies to myself and several others I know.
