Been keeping on eye on these since they're launch at MWC. But does anyone know when they might be hitting the Irish market or on what network? I've googled everywhere & can't find one bit of info other than that they're expected to be released in the UK on May 24.

Nice. Hopefully they'll be carrying the Mini Pro as well - that's the one I;m really looking for my wife

Just rang 2 Vodafone shops about the date for the x10 Mini - honestly, I think being an idiot is an actual requirement to work in these places

Why? chances are they haven't been given any info about them from Vodafone so they aren't going to know about them

I have a normal X10, tbh I'd steer away from Sony Ericsson.

We're still waiting on 2.1 and its gonna be at soonest September. After that who knows how long till 2.2 (which came out last week on other mobiles). If you want Android get a phone which runs the stock version.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,535 ✭✭✭Raekwon

It was officially launched 2 days ago so should be hitting stores next week.

I wouldn't bother though, it is going to be fairly pricey and only has a 5.0MP camera, Android 1.6 and a none removable battery.......so if the battery dies so does the phone

Sony Ericsson would really need to pull their heads out of their arsés because there flagship devices (Xperia X10 & X10 Mini) are streets behind HTC. Hopefully their next device will have them at least competing with HTC on a software level.

    I am a Xperia X10 owner BTW.

@Raekon: Personally the X10 Mini is not for me but since I got my HTC Legend my wife has been really impressed with what you can do with it & now wants an Android phone but needs a keyboard of some sort (16-key or QWERTY) so at the moment it seems that really the X10 Mini Pro is my only choice for her

Also, 3 and o2. Surprisingly it's getting really good reviews, far better than it's big brother. Strangely half tempted now, reminds me of my Nokia 8210.

    What's the battery life like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 590 ✭✭✭ldr

2 full days, thats using the radio every day for about 5 - 6 hours or the music player.

That's the other question I meant to ask, how's the reception on the FM radio?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 590 ✭✭✭ldr

the reception is very good, (comparing to a portable radio), i move around alot at work and the reception stays good.
the sound is pretty loud, even playing mp3
the alarm doesnt go off if you turn off the phone.
the camera is good (alot better comparing with the 3.2mp 5800)

    @LDR

How do you find Call Quality, I'm hoping to pick up the Mini Pro myself but I'm a little worried about the Phone being so small and the fact that the mic isn't very close to your mouth when it's up to your ear!

Has any of the people on the other end of the line have difficulties hearing you?

I have an x10 on Meteor network and have to say its a great phone. Dont think its available direct with Meteor but is through Carphone Warehouse. Only 1 complaint is battery will only last 24 hours but not big problem as charge every night.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 35 Puma5

Oh and 8.1 mega pixel camera is excellent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,626 ✭✭✭davehey79

X10 is on Meteor and they will also be getting the X10 Mini Pro soon. Was in getting my Desire on Saturday and saw the bundle of cards for the displays and the Mini Pro was one of them

Yeah also confirmed today with Meteor in Dundrum that they'll be carrying the Mini Pro - they had no idea when but the fact that they had the cards means they should have it soon

Did you mean 5.0 mega pixel camera? Only the larger Xperia X10 has an 8.1 mega pixel camera, both of the mini's have 5.0 mega pixel cameras.

Meteor have verified on Facebook today that they'll have the mini from next week, and the pro later in July.

They really need to either scrap their official forum or start updating it and start responding to people. A poster asked if there was news on these phones three days ago and still hasn't received an official response.

Tried to buy this phone on three from 3 different carphonewarehouses yesterday, none had it. Still slightly concerned about reports on battery life.

theres feck all about the pro version, which im quite interested in as i cant see the regular version being too easy to use for texting/browsing etc with the smaller screen. Screen is almost as big as my current phone, so itll be handy.

Does anyone know if this (the mini pro) will be available on three?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 66 ✭✭Celestial Deity

    Meteor just announced the Mini Pro on their forums;
    Hi there,

Just a little news... the handset guys have confirmed that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro will be available with Meteor from the 21st July. It will be available from free on Meteor Bill Pay.

    http://forums.meteor.ie/index.php?showtopic=1038

The Mini is 249 euros on prepay, not bad…

Eventually bought the mini on Ltr's recommendation and I'm really impressed with the device. The on-screen keyboard does take about a day or two to get used to, but it's not that bad and i'm probably faster on it than say my e51.

hi all, was debating whether to go for a wildfire or mini pro but eventually decided on the pro because it was free on my dads upgrade. its a great handset. the interface is very well laid out for such a small phone and it really uses the screen well. texting is simple with the keyboard, though i do have quite small fingers. it's only running fw 1.6 but to be honest it does everything i could possibly want from it. i rarely use timescape, i favour the facebook app over it. battery life is also damn good, i gave it its first big charge out of the box and got 2/3 days use out of it, granted i only turned on wi-fi / data when needed and disabled afterwards. all in all id highly recommend it if you are looking for a pocket friendly android

    Hi,

Just spoke with my sister who is a manager in one of the Meteor stores and she advised me that the mini pro was due for release today, 21st. However, it won't be in her store until tomorrow.

    Good news, me thinks :)

I'm having trouble syncing calendar and contacts on Exchange Server. Has anyone experienced this and have they been able to resolve it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 62 ✭✭Qwert1

Just orderd the pro on meteor. i've seen some contradictory posts on other websites about the battery life however. some say its great, others terrible. anyone experienced anything like the 6-8 hours battery some have complained of?

Thinking of the mini pro myself, liked the mini very much just need that querty keyboard, anyone using it and what do they think?....I've enough of big touchscreen and just want something small and light with a good battery life...Does the google navigation work on the mini, i've used it on the x10 and was very impressed from a free app.

Have the mini, excellent little phone and yes navigation works perfectly. Really impressed with the accuracy of the GPS, much more accurate than the 3GS. Pro actually isn't that light, it's about the same weight as a Galaxy S and 40 grams more than the mini.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,694 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

Had you a 3GS as well:) I've enough of it, I just want a handy sized little phone that's actually a good phone, how's the battery life, dads due his upgrade and he's happy with his n95 and I want to get shot of the iphone, i'm stuck between both of them, is the pro that much heavier? Haven't seen it in the flesh yet. Might just go for the mini for the lightness and simplicity and I don't really trust slidey phones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40 Matt_Teddy

Picked up the X10 Mini Pro last week there. I have to say I've been very impressed with the battery on it. From the first full charge I got 46 hours out of it before it reached 15%. That was using the messaging app heavily and exploring a lot of the other features. I think the slide-out QWERTY is fantastic too. The on-screen keyboard is a little small for my liking so that's why I went for the Pro.. I've been looking through the Marketplace for a few decent apps, and have been trying to put a list together from what I've heard works well on this phone, but haven't found too many. Any recommendations? -T

Yes!!!! I thought it was just me! The phone vibrates once, and you pretty much have to leave it for ten minutes. Thought I had a dud. Left it charging, came back and it was on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 590 ✭✭✭ldr

does the phone after the update always takes 15 min to turn on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭squire23

What update are ye referring to? I've got my wife's running 1.6 but there doesn't seem to be any software update available. Also don't seem to be having any problem with it taking 10/15mins to turn on
