I haven't done a trip like that in a speed boat, only in a cruiser but I would think that all the main towns wuch as Athlone, Banagher etc would have fuel! obviously carry a few 5 gallon drums with you too though! If you go over to www.powerboat.ie and ask, there will be loads of lads overthere who will give you all the advice you need!

if you're new to it make sure you get familiar with the rules, the marks and procedures.
Rivers and lakes are dangerous places with lots of hidden rocks and hazards.
Maybe do a course before you go. Or at least contact inland waterways ireland for advice.

Putting in thinks like traffic reports before you start out for they day can be a big safety aid..

It'll be a great trip tho, you'll really enjoy it! Cant advise on facilities i'm afraid.. But please dont take safety for granted :)

There are (or at least were) a number of companies hiring cruisers for use up the shannon, so there are a number of points for them to fill up. (most of these diesel however). But if you had 2x20 litre plastic Jerry cans with you, you'd be in good shape.

As for camping, im not 100% sure, but I would imagine that many scouting trips etc all over the country would be doing activities on a number of points on the shannon, so facilities would be in place for the likes of these.

Either way, it sounds like a great trip!

I was following your thread over on powerboat.ie and saw the pics of the prop, hopefully its not as bad as it looks in the pictures and that you didn' damage the hull!
Is the skeg missing a piece aswell, it looks like it is!!

I know that there is one in mountshannon
    http://www.lakesideireland.com/
I remember staying there before with some cousins when I was younger but can't really remember much about it, I often would go past it on the boat though and it looks busy enough most of the time so couldn't be that bad!
