Soda Bread-yay or nay?

    Hi,

    I've been trying to lose some excess weight. Pretty happy with my diet now...muesli in morning, salad for lunch and healthy dinner.

    I don't eat any kind of sliced pans at all but do like whole grain soda bread made by my local baker.

    This stuff....

    I eat 2-3 slices per day. How bad is this for you?

    I also eat whole grain rice (Uncle Bens brand). Can anyone recommend a better rice for the diet or am I ok with this one??

    it depends on a whole load of factors.

    are you losing weight at the rate you want?
    does the bread fit into your daily calorie allowance?
    are you physically active?
    are you making sure what you put on the bread is healthy?

    if the answer to the above is yes then it is grand to eat IMO...my local shop sell that bread in the pic above and its pretty good

    I have been going to the gym for the last 2 months. Avg. around 4-5 hours per week. Usually half hour cardio, half hour weights/sit ups etc./ half hour swim.

    Put a small amount of low fat/high omega spread when eating with my salad.

    However, one guilty spread I use is...............pate:eek:. No doubt that's a big No No!

    Any taughts on the rice??

    if weight loss has stalled then yes drop the bread and please use real butter if you are going to eat the bread.

    whole grain rice really depends on portions or just cut it out and pack in way more veg for a week or two to see the difference
