Went to pay my fine on the 56th day, was told i couldnt. After getting summons now.
All for eating a bloody breakfast roll while driving.
So what're me options? Escaping the country is my best bet i guess.

    I escaped.

I got a parking fine on Monday (last week) for parking in a spot where you didn't need to pay...

I had five days to pay, forgot until just now!

Going to get a summons probably.

    Ireland is better.

Ah you usually get a lot more than 5 days to pay, are you sure?

What was the fine for then? Exactly?

This calls for some clever subtefuge and very expensive face changing surgery. I know a guy in Kabul who can sort out the documents you need. For the moment stay indoors and don't use any technology invented after 1949. They are watching.

I will be in contact soon.

Why were you eating and driving?

    Are you seeking sympathy?

That's not counting the car he rammed out of the parking space.

    Those things are like GOLD.

    Yes I'm sure.

And the really annoying this is that they just lkeave the slip under your wiper and there is no fine sent ot teh vehicles address.
What's to stop anyone from taking it off the car, or from it just blowing away or something.

Fecking backwards beurocratic shithole this place is!

    Ah don't start
    Why not?

Eating a sweet is one thing. Chewing on a Mars Bar is doable too. But a fncking foot-long breakfast roll?

Go to court, pay your fine, cop yourself on.

    breakfast on the go !!!

have you not seen the MANY women who put make-up on while driving...and while stopped in traffic ?

have you not seen the many people talking on their phones while driving ?

Have you not seen guys shaving while driving (electric razor) ...and while stopped in traffic ?

Have you not seen people smoking while driving ...and while stopped in traffic ?
I think I've made my point....Eating a roll isnt anything out of the normal - I dont think its illegal - but can cause a driver to drive without due care and attention....I do it (maybe not a roll - but I eat and drink (non-alcoholic) while driving.

    Stupid fine??

Sounds like quite the sensible fine to me, my good man.

Take your medicine and then away with you

Prop it up on the steering wheel, take a bite every time the wheel levels out.

I always find that if you are in a rush somewhere and are hungry getting a big sandwich or roll ensures you will get a run of green lights all the way - and your thinking please give me one red light so I can eat this in peace..

It's impossible to eat a breakfast roll without bits falling out unless you are sitting at a table and concentrating on nothing else. And yes, I am a cucumber...

Keep the receipt you got, which showed you tried to pay the fine, but were unable to. Bring that to court. Apologise to the Copper, when you arrive to court, before you take the stand.

While on the stand, start off by apologising for wasting the courts time, and wasting the Gardai's time. Tell them its something you never do, but that morning you had woke up late. Show the judge the receipt where you tried to pay the fine, but were too late.

Judge will probably throw it out and just give you a fine to pay to a charity, in which case, you won't receive any penalty points for what happened.

Or the Copper might not even show, in which case, you'll get away completely!

    Nope..

I'm always running late in the morning, so end up getting my breakfast from a petrol station.
I've mastered the M50 breakfast roll.

Nothing specifically about eating and driving on RotR website :) I guess it would be covered under 'Driving without reasonable consideration' though.

    http://www.rulesoftheroad.ie/accidents-gardai-and-penalties/penalty-points-fixed-charge-offences/index.html

Pretty understandable really. Although, I've seen a lot worse that people eating and driving....

    QED :D

Whenever I try to eat while driving it goes wrong so I stopped. The last time I ever did it was with a meatball subway the fecking thing exploded on me, I don't know why or how it did, but it did. It went all over my face, the windscreen, my clothes the gear lever. It was a sign from god that he is an evil prick. So now I just speed home as quick as possible so it's still warm by the time I get home.

    Wise response.

Scream at them and say you hadn't got the money etc and that you WERE going to pay it and they stuck they're middle finger up at ya.

What is the definition of eating while driving. Is it eating while the engine is on or eating while maneovering.
They say if you are texting or talking on phone at a red light you are still officially driving.
