Exercise to strengthen Ankles/achilles tendon area

    Hi, Im just looking for an exercise to strengthen up my ankles and achilles tendon area. Are calf raises any good for this?

    I damaged my achillies last year and the exercises the physio gave me were (trying to describe as best I can)

    - Calf Raises
    - Lie down and using a towel put it around the bottom of your foot, under the toes. Slowly pull the towel towards you, hold for 10, relax and repeat.
    - Not sure what to call this but someone might be able to help. You stand facing a wall. Put your hands on wall at shoulder height and then bend the knee on the affected leg, placing weight on the ankle.

    There were others but can't remember, but the last 2 above worked best for me, as well as 8 weeks of physio and no exercise for 3 months.

    Oh, sorry remembered another, which was difficult but worked. You need to sit back on your affect leg, so you crouch down with your affected leg towards the back and place weight on it. Hold for 10 and repeat.

    I've had niggling trouble with my achilles and ankles for years, nothing too serious but they just get hurt easily when I'm running(playing GAA). I've seen the physio for them before but the physio just showed me how the stretch them, not strengthen them.
    I just want to strengthen them up to prevent injury. I'll prob try some calf raises. I'm going to start deadlifting and squatting soon, I presume this would also help?
