I'm looking for a bit of advice here, I'm reasonably slim but carrying a bit of extra weight on my tummy. I lost it before but over a longer period of time, but now I'm goin away in 5 weeks and would like to lose the belly. Just looking for general advice? any foods I should deffo avoid?
My diet is ok, but I know I have to cut down on sugary things, I have a sweet tooth.
    Thanks for any help :)

sugar and carbs usually go straight to the stomach area..
    so watch them..

nice stuff is always the problem!

My mother swears by green tea tablets...She has lost 8lb in a month or so by just taking them!

Maybe worth a try with a few sit ups?

bread is a real weakness of mine, I also find it hard to avoid for lunch in work as I'm useless at making salads. Any other suggestions, for cold stuff, as I don't have access to a microwave.

chicken. small bit of rice.. with cucumber or sweetcorn mixed?

myself personally would have a slightly bigger lunch,
    than dinner...

    an omlette?

    can be eaten cold like..

I'm no expert Op but what I've picked up here is:
You can't spot reduce fat (that means lose it from one particular place), you lose weight and your body decides where it goes from, so if you have fat on your stomach then you have weight to lose (i'm the same as you am happy with my weight but have alot of fat on my tummy ).
Sit ups will enhance your abs but if you have a layer of fat covering them all the situps in the world won't make them visible.
Eat fresh fruit and veg, lean meats and stay away from processed food, low carb works for alot of people so try avoiding potatos, bread, pasta and rcie but if you are going to eat them make it wholemeal or wholegrain.
Try to make as much of your meals yourself so you know what's going into it.
Weigh your food, you'll be surprised at how we under estimate the amount of something until we weigh it and see that we are eating way more than we thought!!
You can lose weight through diet alone if you are super super strict (any we seldom are) but with diet and exercise you'll lose it quicker

Check out the stickies here and in the Fitness forum

As per earlier advice about cutting out all breads and pastas, I would agree to this to the extent that I did this for a few weeks, I cut out ALL sugary stuff, had no white bread no pasta and only let myself have home made brown bread, worked quite well for me personally but to be fair I had just come back from a summer in Canada where my diet was wicked bad and I was probably just seriously bloated from too many carbs but nonetheless its definietly the right direction to be headed in.

I doubt its actual bodyfat your mother has lost.
There is no substitute for a clean diet and exercise.

true and in any case there is no way the green tea tablets alone would account for that weight loss.. it could be that the posters mum was watching her diet more closely since she started taking the green tea supps
