Why do people do this?

I went to change my sig a few minutes ago and it turns out 93 people have viewed my profile since I registered. Why would anyone do that? I'm not that interesting.

I've done it a couple of times to others but by mistake when I thought I was clicking on something else and then I actually felt quite embarassed when I realised I'd clicked onto someone's profile and had images of them thinking I was some sort of stalker.

I check out people's profile the odd time - usually when it's the profile of a poster who I find objectionable, so I can read their previous posts & see if they are always that annoying!

I do it a lot by accident, just click on someones name as I am moving the arrow along the screen. I do do it intentionaly sometimes. I wanted to quote a post someone made a little while ago, and I couldn't remember what thread it was in but remembered it getting a lot of thanks, so I found a post by the person, clicked on their name and went into their profile to check their thanked posts. I'd say something like that is a pretty common reason.

Usually do it by accident, and then think 'this person is going to think why the fúck is this guy looking at my profile'. Turns out I was right.

Jaysus Christ, that's ****ing creepy. I didn't realise that much info was out there about me (just as well only a "couple" of people know who I am) as I'm a very private person.

And two things, it's football not soccer and Orange Twixes.....

Also glad to see others make the mistake of clicking on people's profiles!!!!

"Veew ma profile bbz!"

or

Because they can that's why. And of course there's your sig as well. Does stand out a bit.

It's the modern day way of stalking getting to know someone, you can get a bit of info from their profile, check previous posts, usually you can get their myspace/bebo/facebook/last.fm details, pic from know your nerds, their hobbies, likes/dislikes, where they go drinking/clubbing, where they studied/worked and before long you know everything about them. Great when you go to their favourite bar and it just so turns out you have so much in common ... score...

@OP. It's not how many view your sig, it's who views it. Again amazes me how amazed you were. I'ts simple. You changed a sig, it attracted attention, no real mystery there.

The main reason I'd click into someone's profile, if it's not by accident, is if they say something in a post that makes me think I might actually know that person, so I check their profile to see if I'm right. I never am
