i find this training log sheet is excellent
    http://www.newbalance.com/performance/running/training/

i know how you feeling right now!!! it's pain... cos i was/used to be a "king of Couch" 5.8 and nearly 16 Stone....and through early 30....

Just one Strange day...and got up & decided to start running (Forrest Gump type!)....and even Wii fit might help me little for first few weeks then start pounding on road on 1km to Marathon!!!

for me ! it's was most tough, pain of human journey in my life!!! but i glad i done it, now 11 stone (but now up to 12 Stone due to calf & Hamstring injury)

i know you can do it, even you love it/ hate it!!!

Managed to complete a proper session just there...first time since last Wednesday!!

Feet still dragged a bit in the middle, but worked through it. Found my breathing a bit better today aswell, didn't get as out of breath as I usually would - obviously there is something good happening :)
    :D

    Hi :)
Not sure if you already know this but there is a dedicated Couch to 5K thread over with the Food Diaries: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055869229
We don't bite :D It'd be nice to see you over there some time, there are people at all different stages in the programme, I'm in the middle of week 5 myself. You are doing brilliantly so far, well done!!

Well done - small improvements are easier to build upon. Slowly does it.

Thanks - I'm not feeling as sore today I must say - thighs are a bit stiff, and my stomach/sides are too, but not as bad as the last two days!!

Very happy for you- I remember going through a lull a few months back where I thought I was getting worse not better- I still have days where I go out for a run and feel like I run like Phoebe in friends or just can't run at all. The bad spells make the good ones all the more sweeter!

LMAO - strange how many people quote the Phoebe from friends run

.....and someone is a seriously happy bunny tonight.

No baby steps for me, no.

Did the full session, no holding onto the bars to steady myself, no dragging of feet in the middle sections. Even managed to look like I was a natural runner with the arms going in time to my feet!!! (I can dream)

Jaysus I'm pooped now, but I did manage to run all the intervals and even on the final one I did a sneaky swap and ran for 90 seconds then slowed down the pace with a final walk.

Need a shower now before the OH gets here - he might dump me if he saw me in this state!!

    :(

Not a good day - the great session on Wednesday did not repeat itself today.
Feet were dragging again and I had to hold myself up cos my legs just didn't want to work at all.
Also had to cut the session by 2 minutes, just could not finish the final rep.

    Pants!!

We all have good days and bad days...try to put it behind you and focus on the fact that you HAVE done it before...keep at it - you will get there!!

Thanks Fungirl - I did another attempt on Wednesday did sooooo much better, just cut it short by about 90 seconds at the end when my feet just couldn't do anymore

Just by way of an update to all those that encouraged me at the beginning when I thought my body was trying to kill me for making it exercise...

I'm about to start week 8 of the C25K programme.
There have been weeks of repeats and weeks of just not having the energy, mental capacity or the strength to do anything.

However, I can now jog for 25 minutes without issue - I've taken a seriously slow pace to build up the ability to run the designated durations, I will work on the pace afterwards when I continue to do the 40 minute sessions on the treadmill.

On a side note, I haven't lost any weight as per the bathroom scales, but I have dropped a dress size and my legs have some serious definition going on :D so I'm happy with that for now.
My fitness level has increased, no issues with the heart rate or breathing when I'm on the treadmill and the legs are no longer hurting and screaming for me to finish running.

In short - I'm quite enjoying this running thing :D

Good for you! I just finished reading through your thread and it's very motivating. I'm about to start Week 5 myself and I'm shítting bricks, thinking about that 20 minute run . Keep up the good work :D

I was the same, but it was the best thing ever to get to the last minute of that 20 mins and to still be standing :)

I was told to slow my pace down as much as possible so I could last the distance - it worked, now I'm slowly building the speed on the treadmill back up again so I can manage to do 5k in the allocated time, rather than the 3k I'm currently managing

I'll keep that in mind when I'm going out for w5d3! :D

    Do!

I'm on the home stretch now on C25K - did Week 8 Day 1 this morning - I'd say I'll be finished in the next week.

    :D
