New to doing weights but always wanted to... I have hit a wall! I was told that I didnt need to lose weight so apparently its just toning i need. I wasnt improving my muscle percentage (but was told to take protein, cause I wasnt getting enough) My question is; if I sort out the protein and getting muscle(increasing weight when i can) will that outer layer of flab be 'eaten up'. I was going to get running again but was told this will waste the musce. So do I stick with the muscle or do I run...my diet is pretty healthy..id love to do it without a 'diet'.

Would love help....I dont want to lose my motivation

there's nothing wrong with taking a couple of scoops of whey per day to boost your protein intake if you're not getting enough.

take a scoop with water after you train and a scoop wth low fat milk when you go to bed

    as for the training.
I'd say to do your weight training first and then do your cardio.
do hight intensity interval training as its better than low intensity, i.e going so slow on a treadmill that you can read a magazine

As for the fat being "eaten up". the fat will start to disappear, i.e. your body will begin to use your adipose tissue as fuel, when you are on a sustained calorie deficit.
This is when you use up more energy from working out and carrying out your daily amount of respiration to keep all your cells going. (this happens all day every day)

Running will not "waste muscle" as long as you put the right nutrients into your body afterwards

it is really hard to build muscle and lose fat at the same time.

Post up here what you eat every day and what your training is like and someone will take a look at it for you.

drop the extra bowl of cereal in the evenging - total killer. Do you really need the grapefruit AND yogurt. There are a few other things that need sharpening up.

whats your body fat and how was it tested?

sorry for delay, not on net everyday.
I got my body fat tested on a weighing scales by the fitness fella: he said it was 26%. I just really want to improve it. I am quite active during the day, and I am quite hungry when I get to break times. I need something to keep me going.
