I have just watched the ISS space station pass over for the second time tonight, over 17,000 mps it was some awsome. Has anyone else seen it.

Saw it on Sunday night and again last night.

    Very impressive!

Managed to track it with my binoculars (and ruin my night vision for a while :) ).

Did scramble around trining to find it with the telescope, but since I have trouble finding STATIONARY objects with the 'scope I gave up on that :)

    Here's a useful link...

I was using this link myself and found it very good, just refresh every now and then to keep track http://www.heavens-above.com/

    Thanks for that :)

You can get predicted passes on the ISS site

I picked Athlone as it's near enough to me :)

    From this (Ireland) page.

Is it true when it is finished that it will be easily visible even during the day?

It is more or less finished right now. All the major solar panels are fitted so it's not going to get much bigger or brighter than it is now. There is just 2 or so modules left to attach to it.

I believe it can be seen during the day as it is but it's very hard to see.

SO thats what it was. I saw it on Friday night and it was super to look at. I thought it was differant than anything else i saw before. I live near tullamore and saw something very strange about 15 years ago near Lilliput (lough ennell) Was there any reports on strand lights in the sky at that time?

Thanks mate. I would be seriously cool if it was easily visible during the day:)

Over the next day or two we may be able to see the shuttle chasing it in orbit. When Atlantis is docked it will increase the possibility of spotting it.

Unusual to see ISS sightings making the news, must be a slow news day!

Heavens above is giving me 23.41 so you may want to check yourself for your own area.

Where are you guys getting the time predictions from? Is there a good website etc for predicting the times for Ireland?

    http://www.heavens-above.com/

Click on the map and tag your location and then click ISS and it'll give you the times for the next few days.

Something else came over at about 1:25 on the Sunday morning. Could have been Genesis 1 but at 3.3 magnitude, I have doubts.

Click on the nearest City or town.

Just after hearing David Moore on Newstalk shilling money from innocent people telling them to text space to them for €1 a text...scam artists when the info is for free on the net for the ISS passings. Promoting space my eye.

Totally agree with you markfla-as I was one of those eegits until I 'found' boards.ie.

On a more positive note, last night's passing here was spectacular-6 mins plus across a clear midsummer night's sky. Almost the best I've ever seen. :D

I missed the pass last night, saw it a few nights ago and it was cool. I think during the winter it looks better as you can see it turning deep orange as it passes over the terminator.
I mailed and text newstalk about the rip off, they never mentioned my info on air so are obviously in cohorts...David Moore also never mentioned on air you have to text "stop" to their number to avoid a daily rip off. I'm actually very angry about it!

The first pass is at 22.27,although there'll probably still be too much light to see it properly.

Next pass is 00.02 which should be a lot brighter.

    evening all :)
Im confused, when I go to NASA's sighting page, im getting pass time of 01.12 am for tonight.

I did see the pass last night. It came booting across the sky all bright white lights, then it suddenly turned red, the lights rather and headed off in an upwardly direction. So fast too.

Saw the ISS again there. Only really came into view after it had just passed my house. Spectacular as always.

Yup just saw it there over North Co. Dub, was fantastic, very fast, amazing watching it fade away.

    That was REALLY BRIGHT!

We had three false alarms of a plane, a helicopter and a seagull and were about to give up when it came into view. Awesome stuff.
