Want to join a gym/ basic advice please!

    Total gym and fitness noob here.

    Basically I'm a 25 year old guy. Never have been in a gym before but want to start making more of an effort. I don't want to get totally ripped or anything and I'm slim enough now. I would like to get a bit toned and achieve bigger biceps. How much work would be involved for that?

    I'm looking at joining Crunch in Dun Laoghaire as its local to me and they have a pool and I love swimming. Does anyone have any idea on the current fees there?

    You arent going to get substantially bigger biceps without adding size all over.Start into a beginner strength training like starting strength.You would achieve alot more doing something like that then just doing endless bicep exercises.

    Plan on working your whole body. You don't want to be the guy with the huge biceps and the scrawny chicken legs. And working legs and back will not only increase your functional strength, it will boost your testosterone which is good all round.

    You don't need a lot of fancy equipment, just a barbell and dumbbells in a range of weights. Concentrate on lifts like squats, dead lifts, bench press, pull-ups, dips, military press, bentover rows, stiff leg dead lifts, lunges, hyper-extension, wood chopper. See what weight feels right for you, then go one heavier. You should be struggling a bit by the end of each set.
