was in HMV today and noticed they are selling the 5 disc edition of blade runner for €6.99. Looked to be a pretty good deal to me. About twice the price on amazon.
Also noticed the superman christopher reeves collection @ €10.99 which includes the 4 disc edition of the first superman aswell as the richard donner cut of superman 2 and superman 3 & 4

    All DVD's btw

I sure did, but I'm a rabid Bladerunner fan and it was worth the money, if you can get the steelcase ed for 7 euros I'd jump at it. I'd love the suitcase edition its got a spinner in it :)

Might pick it up tomorrow or Tuesday if it's in my local HMV.

Picked one up in HMV Blanch earlier, despite buying the 2 disc edition of The Final Cut only last month. They'd only a few left on the shelf when I was there.

Have the Blade Runner boxset already, got it on Play for 12.99 about a year ago.

Am very interested in getting the big Chris Reeve Superman Boxset though - a great deal - have seen it on online sites and it's always over 20 quid. Which HMV was it and was there many in stock? Don't want to bother going in tomorrow if there was only a couple left in Graften St or Henry St. Cheers.

It was in henry street, there were a few on a shelf by the stairs along with blade runner and whatever else they had on offer. I didn't go upstairs but I imagine they had many more copies of each

Got one today in Dundrum. Thanks to the OP for this tip. BTW, there were loads left on the shelf.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,451 ✭✭✭blastman

There were a good few copies left in Liffey Valley HMV when I was there yesterday afternoon. If I didn't already have the attaché case version I would have snapped it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I was in liffey valley yesterday too, just before closing and there were plenty just inside the door and plenty more on a shelf. So unless there are a huge amount of stay-at-home mother/fathers or unemployed Blade Runner fans hitting the 'Valley this morning there should still be plenty today! Already had one of the versions on DVD, but it's not the same without "they don't advertise for killers in the newspaper..." :) - Nice one OP.

I'm stupidly tempted given that I have the same edition on Blu-ray...it's the steel box that does it :pac: Are there any other bits and bobs with it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 706 ✭✭✭dolittle

    Yeah, it's the tin box.

See the contents of it here: http://www.discjunkie.se/index.php?page=viewdetails&id=153

Has a cool lenticular film clip, a letter from Ridley Scott on a clear plastic sheet, and 5 - 6 art cards - it's a very cool looking set.

You can see an un-boxing here:

Jaysus.. a quick Google could have given you the answer!

    From IMDB:
Deckard, a blade runner, has to track down and terminate 4 replicants who hijacked a ship in space and have returned to earth seeking their maker.

And what's on the 5 discs!

    Typical american drama:
bored with life cop runs after bad robots, meets a girl, who is out of his league, kills the robots, falls in love with the girls, she falls in love with him, they lived happily ever after.

glad to see people were interested in this. I didn't buy it myself as I already have the 2 disc final cut on HDDVD (yes, you read that right :p). I was a little let down by it tbh after hearing so many great things about although I reckon it's one of those films that gets better with repeat viewings

I had't seen this before and i walked into hmv in Pavillions today and just so happened to be looking for blade runner. I couldn't believe my luck when i saw it. Delighted with myself. And still a fair few left there today.

Got one int HMV Grafton Street this afternoon - there are heaps of them in a big pile near the upstairs (DVD) checkout. Literally 30+.

By the way, the one I got in Grafton is NOT a tin. Exactly the same box, contents etc from what I can see but its is a cardboard fold out case.

Yes, There were two dozen or so availible in Hmv Dundrum a couple of days ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,734 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Now HMV Grafton hads a zillion of them but I have no reason to believe any of them were the tin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭Mr Trade In

I got one in a Tin in Blanch last week, they had more than 100 of them left in a display near the Bluray section.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 159 ✭✭Bus77II

Yeah, the one's in the Square are Tin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,734 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Crap so. I guess there is a non-tin version floating about.

My own fault for not checking more of them but maybe one of the many they had in Grafton was a tin if I had checked more than one.

Sure its what inside that matters:) A tin case is only good for keeping cookies fresh.

Ah yeah, I mean I'll get over it eventually!

In HMV Grafton they are upstairs in a pile near the checkout as I said (where I got mine and where the majority of them are).

However there are also some at near on a table near the checkout downstairs AND filed alpabetically as you would expect upstairs.

No idea if any are tin though.

I was in there for around an hour today wanting to buy an mp3 player but had to wait for some band to clear out from downstairs too. Did so much loitering - if only I had done what any sane man would have done and gone on a case feeling rampage.
