Teacher with rabbit phobia to sue 14-year-old for drawing bunny
The teacher, from Vechta, Germany, says she was traumatised by the drawing, and claims the girl knew it would terrify her.
She had transferred to the school where a pupil from her former school had just become a pupil and told her new friends about the teacher's fear of rabbits.

"We did it for fun and out of curiosity", one of the girls told a court, adding, "We wanted to see if she would really freak out."

School officials removed her from the class and now the teacher is seeking compensation for her terror and her loss of earnings, her lawyer Manfred Bormann told the court. The case continues.

Genuine case for suing, over-reaction or someone looking to take advantage of a situation?

In fairness, if the teacher had a phobia of rabbits and the girl knew that, then drawing the picture is just not one bit bunny.

I'd say the teacher must've got a hop when she saw the drawing first.

It's absolute genius.. Every single one of us would have done it when we were in school.
And what the hell is she at being a teacher? Bunny rabbits are going to get brought up alot.. She should have been an accountant.

I agree it would be hard to go through your life as a teacher and not have the subject of rabbits pop up here and there especially at Easter times. I don't think suing a 14 year old kid is going to stop this happening to her it might just fuel more pupils to do it.

Well they wouldn't have known about her phobia if she hadn't kept rabbiting on about it.

I wonder if she breeds like a rabbit.

if I was the childs parent I'd get the child to wear the bunny suit to court as I'm pretty sure the bunny suit is not banned.

The teacher will not be able to leave her hatch from now on, everyone will know who she is and about the phobia.

I wonder what she does at Easter.

Going into a shop there would be Bunny pics everywhere.

Sounds like a ploy to get compensation to me.

Surely the judge will just laugh at her.

What bloody nonsense. I would sack for for denyimng the children their right to sel expression. That would mean that the "R" word could never be used ih her class. Clearly not suited to be a teacher, so sack the fool.

Ah c'mon, the kids didn't throw a rabbit at her, it was a drawing!

I wonder if the real reason she's scared of rabbits is a bad experience with an identically named length of battery powered plastic?

How could you be afraid of rabbits :pac:

We had a teacher in school and it was well known she had a fear of leprechauns, needless to say there were a lot of leprechauns drawn in that class.

On second thought, the rabbit fear does seem more rational :pac:

at 14 you would wonder how much the drawing even resembled a rabbit, lol. What a nutter

If you can draw, you can draw, age doesn't come a whole lot into it besides the fact that you can improve over time. I was in junior cert at 14, could have been an awesome rabbit :pac:

Ah yes, but its not *real* and could not possibly hurt her in anyway, no matter how well its drawn.

This compensation, sue for everything, americanised bullshít makes me fúcking sick.

I was merely addressing a silly remark regarding how well a 14 year old could draw.

Obviously the teachers reaction is ridiculous.

I resent you calling me silly because I questioned how realistic a 14 year old's drawing of a rabbit would be.

I am myself a talented enough artist who can draw quite well but I can tell you that at 14 (would would be the average age of 2nd years, not 3rd years by the way) my drawing of a rabbit would not be life like. Hence my point.

Also, I was not criticizing the child's drawing ffs I was criticizing the reaction to the drawing

Jaysus, relax ffs. I was making a point based on a point that you made. You said that the drawing could have been very life-like, I was then saying that regardless of how life-like it is it isn't a real rabbit. Clear enough for you?

Jesus how weak and poncy are people becoming? Personally I'd stick her down a warren with a weeks supply of food and burn the daftness out of her. Going so far as to sue 14 year old kids? Weak willed childish moron. No ifs buts or maybes.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Ridiculous to people that aren't scared of rabbits or don't have severe phobias.

Obviously the whole thing could be a load of rubbish but to disregard something rubbish simply because you would not have the same reaction is a touch unfair.

When a person has a severe phobia even thinking about the object of the phobia can cause panic attacks and terror. It is not inconceivable that a picture of a rabbit, however poorly drawn, could cause a severe adverse reaction on the part of the teacher.

The pupil is clearly a nasty little b1tch and did this to elicit a response. So long as the teacher is not exaggerating the effect, I see no reason why she should not sue. And if her reaction was genuine I hope she wins.

That is kind of like calling someone weak and poncy for dying of cancer. I mean, why didn't they just fight it?

I am fairly sure that people with severe phobias, or any other mental condition, generally do not choose to suffer from it.
