Ear blocks when exercising

    Hi,

    I am reasonably fit person who cycles, plays football and does martial arts. I have a problem when I exercise intensively or else for an extended period of time, my ears begin to block up. Somewhat similar to when you are in a plane. My nose also tends to block up a bit when this happens too but my ears are the real problem.

    I am fit but I find that this coupled with my nose blocking up makes it hard to push on because it can be hard to breathe normally and it is disconcerting.

    Has anyone else experienced this? and is there any solutions?

    I got this a few times too, the blocked ears not the blocked nose. I always feel like I need to 'pop' them. I got them playing rugby, never in the gym. No idea what it is

    heavy breathing expels carbon dioxide from your lungs. carbon dioxide plays a direct role in controlling levels of mucus in your air passageways, so over a long spell of heavy breathing, carbon dioxide levels will be very low and thus mucus levels rise, causing the blockages. to prevent it, try breathing through your nose, and try not to breathe too heavily. breath into your stomach rather than your chest.
