Give over. Doesn't sound too bad tonight. Marianne Faithfull is always an interesting guest. Hopefully we'll get a song.

I wonder will Gerry Ryan's death affect the show tonight

When there's death around, JP_Liz is to be found :p

Only messin' Liz, although I am now starting to picture you in a black room, wearing black clothes and a white face with lots of church candles burning around you !

I imagine it'll end up dominating the show if they can get the likes of Gaybo and Fanning esp to come on. On the other hand they both might just think its a bit too soon and leave it until later...

I would say they will leave off on bringing fanning and the rest of them on until next week when the funeral is over and things have settled

Well it's not often me and the above poster agree on this thread, but I have to agree on this one. It's a significant improvement on the guests of the three previous shows. Stockard Channing was very good with Martin Sheen in The West Wing.

Tubridy was on with Mary Wilson (DriveTime), from the RTE LLS studio, saying that he had "gone home and had a good cry" earlier today.

Agree. Even on the news today he was in bits. Kudos to Fanning for doing it for his friend

I didn't but my friend did a few years ago and at the time said he came across with a I'm-better-than-you attitude and didn't seem interested in talking

I've deleted a couple of posts that were in very bad taste.

Say what you like about the LLS (God knows you will!), but no Gerry Ryan jokes tonight, please. One of the good guys died today, so lets be respectful and honour his memory.

I'm not going to sit on this thread hitting F5 every couple of minutes, so please report any posts that you think are in bad taste. If I agree, that person will take a week's break from this forum.

    Cheers.

Didn't know who Brenda was before this but she's not nearly as annoying as Fiona..

is it just me or does anyone think that the death of a radio presenter is being a little bit overhyped?

I know its very sad, he was too young to die, he had family etc., but its been blanket coverage all over the radio since 3 this afternoon and now on the telly as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,900 ✭✭✭littlefriend

God, it really is very sad. I don't know why but I'm nearly crying watching it, weird. Feel really sorry for Dave Fanning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,937 ✭✭✭patwicklow

i really think its very soon for this on the show maybe next week would have been better. dont think its fair on his own family they need abit of space.
any way a great loss radio will never be the same again.RIP Gerry

Difficult for Gerry's colleagues on the show to take in such sad news but well done to all who have come on to the show tonight in respect and remembrance of the man and his family, and so soon after the sad announcement. God rest him.
