Question about change in diet...

    Hey,

I recently made several changes to my diet as I'm undergoing a strict training regime for a marathon and I'm looking to get the most out of my food. The most notable change is that I am trying to avoid white bread, white pasta, rice etc. and instead eating their wholewheat/wholemeal counterparts. Its only been a few weeks but I've noticed a big change in the way I feel.
However, today I was at a friends house for dinner and it was white pasta. I didn't want to be rude and decline so I went ahead and ate it. However, after dinner I felt awful. I had cramps and I felt bloated too. The same happened a few days ago when I was out for dinner and there was white bread with the food. I had a small bit not thinking it was a big deal and felt awful after that too.
Now, I'm not one to suffer digestive problems. I rarely have any sort of digestive discomfort and I never felt this way when I was eating the white pasta/bread before. These 2 occasions were the only times I have touched the stuff since I changed my diet but it's so odd that I've felt like this after eating it when I didn't before.
So, out of sheer interest more than anything, I'm just wondering if anyone might know why this might be?
    Cheers :)

I eliminated all grains in January with great success in weight, how i feel and my training performance. Recently I had bread for the first time in months and found that for the rest of the day I felt bloated, unwell etc. etc.

I believe its the gluten- namely when you eliminate it and reintroduce it your guts aren't use to the irritation and react. I'm not sure how this fits in with you eating brown bread and brown pasta though!

Anyway white bread and pasta while tasty buttered up are bad for you in so many ways- good work cutting them out and consider keepin it that way!
