Classy field assembled for this one starting Thursday, including Mickelson, Woods, Furyk, Kim, Westwood & Harrington. It also sees a return to play for Rory McIlroy.
Nick Watney & Adam Scott are my e/w selections for this one.

Good luck with your bets Aidric.

If anyone fancies a read they can catch my preview of the tournament here on Paddy Power.

    Also added D.J. Trahan.

Looking forward to this. Always attracts one of the stronger fields outside of the Majors and WGC's plus it's a fantastic course too.

Have money on Villegas(as per usual), Ogilvy and Kim.

Nice one. interesting that you went for Watney as well. 30's look tasty.

I follow Watney on a regular basis.

I am slightly concerned about the precise accuracy required around this course. He has good accuracy statistics but some of his worse stats in that department are on this course. He's gone from being accurate here and poor at putting to the total opposite. I just hope things fall into place for him this week.

He is going to go wire-to-wire sometime real soon and back it up with another win.

I'll give you 200/1 he doesn't have a wire to wire win this season

Just my opinion (which I am entitled to)

I am fully aware of his previous history after rounds 1, 2 and 3 so in turn aware of the correct odds of it happening.

Don't make offers that you will never commit to

of course I wouldn't give you 200/1, if I had unlimimted funds then I would :-)
that's how much I think he'll have a back to back win

That's very short odds so you must fancy his chances :D

Plus you said wire-to-wire. Not back-to-back.

I never mentioned back-to-back wins. I said he would back up another success this season when he wins an event.

anthony kim each way, 20/1 there is no way he will be out of the top 5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,844 ✭✭✭Jimdagym

Boyles giving slightly better odd than PP above. Woods 7/2(11/4 PP), Kim - Westwood 22(20 PP), Watson 33(30 PP) etc. etc.

How many places are Boyles paying compared to Powers?

Tiger hacking it round like a Solheim Cup player so far... +3 thru 11 holes after a birdie at his 11th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭blackwaterfish

nice to see david duvals name in the top ten, even if its only very early days, even if he's playing on a sponsor's exemptions, even if he's lost his tour card, even if he's 124th in the rankings.

he'll still probably shoot even par somehow,

Went for O'Heir, Mahan and Kim e/w hopefully one of them can do the business.

Mickelson has been in the top ten for the last three years always a good bet.

McIlroy -2 through the front nine, good to see.

He manged to get himself to -3 at one point, but now unfortunetly McIlroys back at level par.

Nice seeing McGinley on the Sky team for this weekend.
Interesting to hear his views on course design, he's not entirely happy with macreddin (not mentioned tonight, its on his website) and about his putting within 6 foot and not getting many of the 20,30 & 40 footers.
A nice change from some of the others.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Shame Harrington bogeyed his last. Still not badly placed with a level par round.

a silly comment in any tournament with 155 odd pro's in it,to back any player e/w at 20/1 in any golf event will cost you for sure,he's not accurate enough imo to win this event,i've been away all week but just backed Heath Slocum @33/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 193 ✭✭Icepickle

Backed Kim & was happy to see him -5 after 9.
When I looked later he had finished level. D'OH!
Good front 9 & fall apart on back 9, yeah I can do that!

    Parker McLachlin - Racked up a 12 on the par 5 7th.
Professionals? pffffff!!! I can do that also!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,925 ✭✭✭BUACHAILL

Kim has torn ligaments in his thumb and needs surgery, His driving has been all over the place so I would be shocked if he comes anywhere and to be honest I am amazed he hasnt pulled out !! Pity he has been in great form

I enjoyed listening to him last night also. I don't agree with all that he says, but his insight into the game is fascinating.

Would love to see him get a few high finishes this season.

Rory needs to pull the finger out as he's sitting at +1 which is the projected cut line. He started off ok and went to -1 but two back to back bogeys saw him fall back.

Be nice to see a little bit of him in the coverage.Granted, he's not playing that well at the moment, but he's still one of the most talented players out there and they've not shown as much as one shot.Yet we'll see plenty of Tiger hacking his way to a missed cut and mediocre Americans you'll hear little of again this year.Annoying.

That's always the way though. McIlroy has plenty holes to make up a few shots. Tiger is running out of holes on the other hand. Another level par round from Harrington today, only six off the current lead all the same.

Three 3-putts in his front 9 for Rory

Tiger shoots a 79. Must be enjoying his weekends off....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭Fore Iron

I shot a 78 today. Sorry, just wanted to have my name on this thread with a better score than Tigers. Been a dream of mine....

Shame to see after all his talk about behaving differently, he still is the same childish, moany arse, crowd ignoring arse he's always been. I love what he has done for golf. I hate the man though.

Don't mean to hijack the thread. Sorry guys..........

Rory at +3 is going home. Is that the worst 2 rounds that Woods has had for a long time?

Ah great stuff........I looked at his card and I couldn't understand it until I realised that he started at the 10th.

    Hopefully he'll par the last.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,472 ✭✭✭stockdam

Excellent he parred the last and should get in at +1. That was an excellent eagle on his 16th.

Hope he can climb up the leaderboard now.

McIlroy moves to -5 (-6 for the day). Himself and McCarron really feeding off each other. Cracking rounds.

that 66 is lookin better & better every minute too. Tied 5th now!

Fantastic stuff from Rory today......up 41 places to 7th. Another good day tomorrow and he'll be knocking on the door.

That eagle he had on his 16th in round two was vital......without it he was going home. It just shows that if a good player can get into Saturday then anything can happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

It's reasonable to expect Mayfair will fold tomorrow. When did he last lead a tournament going in to the final round?
Harrington managed an under par round as well today. A low score tomorrow could give him a top 10. McIlroy is well capable of going on blitz again tomorrow. 9 birdies today!

    2006.

But he hasn't won in 12 years, so it's reasonable to assume he will let others back in tomorrow.Phil plays decent, he wins.

    What a silly statement.

If any of the top 10 play decent they'll win. I think cabrera had his bad day sat...think he'll win from here

Not really.Mayfair, for example needs to play his absolute best to win tomorrow, or he'll be overtaken.McIlroy, given his position, also needs to play his very best and shoot a fairly low score.Phil, given his position and his talent, doesn't need to play his absolute best to win it.I think Mayfair will stagnate tomorrow, shoot Even par or +1 and Phil will shoot 67 to win.JMHO.:p

not a silly statement at all, that is presuming you were replying to the previous post, maybe next time use the 'Quote' option ,makes it easier to understand what you're on about

Id like to see Mayfair win this. Seems to be a golfer who makes the most of what he has got and wouldnt write him off. Really good short game will stand up to the pressure as i dont think he worries about missing greens.
Will be good to watch the last 3 holes as they are brutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Harrington on the charge. -3 thru 8, -5 for the tournament.
