Salsa Slims + question about total fitness

Hey guys, posting off the bf's account as I'm too lazy to sign into my own :p

Firstly, I've just joined a Salsa Slims class (the thing run by 3e where you are given a book of meal plans as a diet and do a salsa class once a week for 10 weeks). I really enjoyed it but I can't help but wondering is it actually any good as an hour of exercise? I was sweating, but I was barely out of breath after the whole thing, despite being COMPLETELY unfit. Surely I need to be out of breath or something to get some benefit from it?

Second question is a little less stupid - In Total Fatness Malahide Road, they do one day passes for 18 euro. They told me when I used it that I can use my receipts (I was with my little sister at the time) to redeem it against the price of a full time membership any time. So, 18 euro would be taken off for each receipt if I wanted to come back later and sign up.

Because I've been broke, I haven't had 400 upfront or whatever it is they're asking for, so I've used the place several times with the one day pass things. Sure, it's more expensive but I'm not giving up on going to the gym to save. Works out easier this way for me.

Thing is, I have about 15 of those receipts now. They specifically said I could redeem my receipts against the price of joining, which would equal €270 off. Somehow I don't see them living up to this promise. Has anyone else ever done this? I'm thinking of asking because I was told my receipts (plural) would be redeemed anytime.

MackMuffin - there's no need to lie about doing salsa slims, you swing those hips mate! (girlfriend, yeah right)!

As for your TF receipts, a lot of gyms take the price of a one day pass off membership, but I'd be surprised if they took 15 of them off, but give it a try though and best of luck. let us know how it goes

I started one of those Salsa Slims classes in Jan 09 (before I signed up with a PT). As someone who had a reasonable level of fitness going to them in the first place, I barely broke a sweat during the class but they were good craic all the same as I went with one of the girls from work! There were some really really overweight women in my class and I think that those classes are more suited to them than the likes of me or you (by the sounds of your post anyways!)

    lol Dave!

Red - I'm actually REALLY overweight! I'm not gonna say what weight I am but I need to lose a good 4 stone :( I'm completely unfit too, like the most exercise I do is going to the gym the odd time and walking most days, nothing strenuous. I can't run for a bus! That's why I found it really odd that I found the class so easy, when it's supposed to be a weight loss class. I have a feeling I'm not gonna lose anything from it :(

Whether you loose weight or not will be all based on your diet. Focus on that and do it right.
