    nope, don't believe in it.

i believe though, if you are good to others, you'll feel better about your life. makes sense really, not karma.

I'm not entirely sure I believe in it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

I guess you could call me a Karma Chameleon.

You only have to look at the politicians and the former banking chairmen/women of this country to know Karma dosen't exist.

it boils down to averages and perception.

what goes around comes around, i believe that.
    but
the more of what people send around, the more of that your due.
and some things can be + or - depending on your view.

i always like the idea of paying something forward,

The idea of karmic reward as a motivator for 'doing good' is no way to live your life. People should strive to be good for the sake of their happiness and the happiness of others, not for some great karmic reward. However, it is true to an extent that positive behaviour reflects itself back on you because, well if you're nice to people, they're gonna do their best to be nice to you in return. But it doesn't mean you'll have anymore 'luck' than anyone else. Life doesn't care and saving someone from being hit by a car isn't gonna keep you from getting lung cancer from smoking.

i believe though, if you are good to others, you'll feel better about your life. makes sense really, not karma.

    Yes.

Karma exists but not how we understand it.
All present actions shape those to come.

    That's not karma, it's causation.

Why's that? What did they do wrong to deserve their current plight?

    I 100% believe in Karma.

    What goes and comes around.

Unfortunately, not always in our lifetime or theirs.

But I do believe that something approaching Karma is at work in the universe.

I would hope that there is enough balance in the world that it would at least encourage the vast majority of people to try and make it a decent place. Sort of like a ticket inspector on public transport - you can evade buying the ticket and possibly or probably be okay, but risks vs. rewards, is it ever really worth it? Nah. Buy the ticket and you can enjoy your journey in peace, not constantly looking over your shoulder...okay, I'm going to abandon this metaphor now, but you get the picture.

To be honest I've screwed over more than a few people in my time (nothing illegal, just being a general idiot and a user), I'm a different person and all now but I expect I'll get my comeuppance at some point.

i think it's all about the mind. if you did something bad, your subconsious punishes you.
do something good, you feel positive about yourself and you feel better in life

or maybe it's a load of bullsh*t and the universe doesn't care about anyone :D

    I thought that closed.

I'm too old to answer that question.

Haven't heard much about it lately though so it most likely is.

    Was a good spot too.

It's the biggest load of horse s**t ever, anybody who knows anything about the real world knows good things happen a bit more to people who are not nice!

Does "action" work and have consequences? Yes, obviously
But do people here belive that if you do only good things, only good things will happen??
Not really. But that is a separate matter from karma.

I lost a really expensive mobile once and was gutted. A few weeks later I found a mobile phone in the college I was attending and handed it in. The next day I got a call from a Vodafone shop in dublin (I was in the west of Ireland) saying it had been left in to be fixed and had come up as stolen. Got it posted on to me the next day.

Coincidence or karma? Was glad to get it back anyway.

Yeah but you more than likely won't. What about good people who constantly get sh1tted on?

I agree with someone earlier: I think most people are good because they want to be/just are, not because of the possibility of a reward.

And converesely, if some people thought they'd get rewards for being nicer, they'd try a lot harder to be so. But quite often, these are the people who get rewarded a lot for being complete & utter ****.

And if you don't do something bad, then something bad will often happen anyway

Starving children in Africa, crackbabies, etc. -- what did they do to deserve it?

Let me guess, you also belief in past lifes?

i don't believe in karma. i have lost way too many cute rings/cardigans/whatever, never to be seen again. and i'm like a magnet [or magpie] when it comes to finding other girls cute things, and i always go out of my way to find the owner and return it.

i do believe in treating people how you would like to be treated, which is a little bit like karma, except you don't expect to get anything back, you just hope other people will be as decent as you.
